JL Audio Stealthbox Inquiry
BELOW is an email I sent to JL Audio last night inquiring about a Stealthbox for the RX-8. I received a response first thing this morning. Is there any group interest in moving this along? What do you think? (I've cross-posted this in the AUDIO discussion board as well).
I would like to know if there is a stealthbox sub in the works for the Mazda RX-8. Lots of passionate and devoted RX'er's would like to know. Please respond to this email address. Thanks.

Good morning Steve,
Sorry, we don't have a Stealthbox model for the new RX8 and have no immediate plans to build one. However we are certainly interested if there is enough demand. Please forward any information you may have regarding clubs or associations who may have an interest, as well as preferences for location, size, etc.
Thanks,
Don Vertrees

I'd be interested. Had one of the stealthboxes in my last vehicle and loved it. Usually their boxes don't take up too much room and make for a pretty clean install. Sound isn't what you'd get from a properly tuned sub/box combo, but its plenty good for my needs.

I would love to see a stealth box replace the cubby door between the rear seats. I like what i've seen some listers do with their custom installs but only a company with the manufacturing and engineering capabilities such as JL could truly duplicate the factory fit and finish of such a piece on a production scale and do so with repeatability, accuracy and affordability.
i think a single 8" driver in a ported enclosure would go a long ways in the bass department. if the price can be placed in the $3-400 range including the sub i would be very interested.

Getting my install on July 2nd, (2) JL 8W7-3. The installer said that they would paint the fiberglass the same color as the car. I will post my pics.
I did look at box eclosures, however this should leave quite alot of room in the trunk.

A Stealthbox would most likely cost in the 600-700 dollar range if not more. Thats what most of them cost. I think the cheapest one is somewhere around 450 or 500 bucks. They are really great pieces, but they are really expensive for what you get.

between the seats? I'm in...2 subs look better then one (I'll post the links with the custom install I like...the one that just uses the pass through panel as the front)
lets get Don Vertrees and whoever else from JL audio on this forum to watch this thread progress

Actually I prefer the rotarygod box design over all others... My second choice would be the 2 6.5" that someone else did.
