JL Clean Sweep opinions?
I have been searching for two days and have not found much recent info on the JL Cleansweep. I have found only one post from '05 of someone having display problems after installing one.
I am taking the 8 in to have the sound system upgraded this week and the installer recommended using the Cleansweep for my XM (currently on an FM modulator) and to install an aux jack for my MP3 player.
I would appreciate any opinions you have about this.

I've had the cleansweep for sometime now. Its not the best. It has no sub input or output and also only limits you to front and rear inputs and only the dealer that installs it has access to the cd to make adjustments for it. To get a sub input you must sacrifice one of the inputs and it must be a full range output coming from the stock hu. I recently switched to the rockford fosgate 360 and I think it not only sound alittle clearer but also louder and theres the fact that I can control everything with my palm treo with bluetooth is great. Its just far more advanced then cleansweep for $299. Just my opinion on the devices.

I also have a CleanSweep. And while it may not be the best, it does work great. Not sure what is meant by sacrificing an input, but since you are keeping the stock head unit, you do not need a sub input anyway. The 360 definitely has a lot more bells & whistles, but I didn't feel like buying a palm pilot to run it. I understand that they are making it so laptops will work, but still out of range for lots of people. As far as the CD goes, ask your installer for it. It comes in the box w/ a new CleanSweep, therefore you purchased it and it should be yours. The 360 should be no louder if your gains are set properly and the 360 is set flat.
If installed properly, there should be no reason in the world for the HU display to malfunction.
My personal opinion is that the CleanSweep performs exactly as advertised. Our head units are fairly flat & full range so it is really overkill for basic systems. I traded my AudioControl 6XS for it just for the Aux input. It sounds perfect!! The only downfall is that you have no fader control when using the aux input. However, once your amps are set properly, you probably don't use the fader much anyway.
Some people don't like the fact that you "must" use the supplied volume **** and lose steering wheel control. This is not true with the 8. Since our HU is flat throughout most of the volume range, you can set the CleanSweep volume control to max and use the HU volume control, unless you are listening to the aux input. This would not work as well if you connect the CleanSweep after the Bose amp.
The best thing to do is figure out what all you want to do w/ your system and buy the equipment that fits your needs the best. Hell, if the 360 ever has a controller that comes with it for a reasonable price, I may have to get one just for all of the cool **** it does.

The main reason the CleanSweep was suggested was to get an aux. input for my MP3. I am really not interested in it doing much else. I was not aware though - if I am understanding this correctly - that the HU volume control will not control the aux input. I would assume that would also be true of the XM input?
