just installed escort 8500 with zr3

I just had the escort 8500 and zr3 laser shifter installed, and it so far has worked well. The car is not friendly to installers trying to find places to go through the firewall for install but it got done. I'll keep y'all posted on future endeavors to respond how it works in case of an encounter with laser.

How much you pay for the escort?

I picked up mine on L.I., N.Y. best buy for $299 plus I ordered the remote mute /power from Escort for $29.00. I plan on hardwiring mine withing the next few weeks. I put mine just above the left side of the rearview mirror.

I am looking at the Escort SRX. Similar to the ZR3 but it has the built in radar/laser detector as well. I am looking at e-bay for items and having the local car shop I trust do the installation.

I work for Ultimate Electronics, so cost is not relative, retail is 300 for the 8500 and 400 for the ZR3. Install is not difficult just time consuming, so install will range from 200 to 400 depending on whose doing it.

Question

I have an SRX that I pulled off my previous car. How did you run your ZR-3 through the fire wall?

I did the same install on mine about 6 months ago. I mounted the zr3 shifters next to the foglights. I used a metal bracket on the top of the oil cooler to mount to so no holes had to be drilled. This looked the best and without a front license plate the cops will probably be aiming at the headlights.

Blinder is still the best.I can vouch for it saved me at least 3 times.
Oh and i might have waited for the new 8500 x50 which is upgradeable and is suppose to have twice the distance of 8500.Read about it here www.radarbusters.com
