Wink Pics: Illuminated Shift ****

Here are the pics. i tried to adjust the camera for a quick shutter but it didnt do so well .

* it plugged right into the light for the ashtray, piggybacked. didnt have to cut a wire. Directions really not necessary either (all japanese anyway). Worth it.
*Came with new leather boot. but i used my original one cuz it fits nicer. the new one has a snapclip to allow for the wiring to pass through, but the OEM fits just fine.

It's not a secret, I've had mine in for over a year. A lot of people don't like them, but I kinda do. There's even a DIY to change the color of the LED on the inside.

Not sure, but check out http://www.mazdaparts.com/CategoryPr...arage:Interior as one example. Look about 1/2 way down the page. There are other places of course, but this one I found easily.

How's the light intensity compared to the other interior lighting? Based on the pics alone, it looks significantly brighter.

It is a little brighter than the other lighting. but its not tacky in anyway. it still maintains a stock look and balances out. the camera doesn't do it justice.

I'd agree it's a little brighter than I would like. There are ways to fix that, but I just haven't done it yet.

looks cool!
When I was considering getting an 8, this was at the top of my 'mod list' but I just never got around to it. Got side tracked with other mods..
Mazurfer: did you have to resolder the connections? I think I remember some people having issues with them.

I'd still like to get this but with my new gauges, might just be 'too' much lighting going on down there.

No, but I was very, very careful about the routing, the slack given, the tie wraps...........and everything. You are right, some people did when they weren't careful on the install....you can twist the wires enough while you screw it on that you can break the connections. I would assume that once installed if you have a spinning ****(not tight) it could happen as well. I'll see if I have a pic of mine somewhere all lit up.............but I'm going to change it up and put blue in there. That alone will make it less bright.

Don't know about the OP, but I got mine from www.Mazdaparts.com if I remember correctly. Look at my post above, it has a direct link to that page. There might be another and they may be cheaper, but I bought a bunch of stuff from them so they cut me a deal at that time.

installation was easy. took about 15 minutes or so. It comes with a new boot (or as you brits call it a 'gaitor') which i realized the stock one looks nicer- so switching it back was annoying cuz you have to take everything apart again. The wiring was nice and tight, didnt break off or feel like it was going too. Piggybacked right into the ashtray light with plugs. didnt have to cut anything. i got it from www.rhdjapan.com and it got to me within about a week or so from japan . I put it on my tab at harry's

nice!

I just got one as well. I plan on installing it with an AFE short throw and a Polak boot this weekend. Usually I don't like 'bling' type mods but I do like the way the illuminated shifter look. I will try to do some pics of mine as well.
