Kanatechs vs Metra

Kanatechs vs Metra
Hi everyone,
I've decided on the 2DIN system for my car, but would like to know which facial kit is better, the Kanatechs or the Metra..
The only difference I can find is that the Metra has better customization functions for the LCD display.. is there anything else I should keep my eye out for or any experiences/opinions anyone has to share?
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Neon

There were many complaints of Metra's faceplate paint finish. Though, I've heard they've cleared that up since. There has also been countless firmware updates Metra has released. They're simply correcting problems the kit had since it's release. The real kicker is they expect you to send the kit to them for the update OR purchase this tiny cable from them for like $75 so you can do it yourself. The icing on the cake is that folks are still having an above average amount of various problems with the kit. Just search our boards.
Only drawbacks to the Kanatechs kit are price, no more clock on top amber display, and the two plastic side pieces that must be attached to your double-din. I've used the kit a number of years. The clock thing has never bothered me, as any double-din headunit is going to have a clock on it. The price was steep, but once you've swallowed it, you move on and forget about it. My kit has been rock solid and never once given me even the slightest hiccup. In fact, I don't believe I've ever heard ANYONE have trouble with it.
In my opinion, if you've got the money, the Kanatech kit is the only way to go. A bullseyed flawless paint finish on a kit that works perfectly every time.

Thanks for your response, I just came back to the forum to post a response saying that I think only the Kanatechs kit will work for my car (to my understanding, we only have automatic climate control in Australia).
Good to know the Kanatechs one looks better, that alone would probably have made me choose the Kanatechs, even though it's now become my only option!
Off to the (virtual) shop I go!
