Kenwood Amp

Here is a question maybe someone can answer for me. I have a KAC-7252 with bass remote but I was not given the cable to connect it up. I tried using just a regular phone cable since the amp and remote accepts an RJ-11, but it didn't work. Is there anything special to the cable provided by Kenwood? Should it not be 1-1?

They might swap a pair of wires. The only ways I can think of to tell what pair gets switched would be by owning a working cable and looking at the color of the wires in the plug, or owning a working cable and testing continuity with a multimeter
