LCD mounting

Does anyone think it is possible to mount a small LCD where the sun glasses holder is? Have it flip down just like it does now. any ideas?

Someone on here has a flip-down screen there - hooked up to a DVD player. They shaved off that area and mounted some kind entertainment center. Looked very clean

i've thought about this as well but i'd be afraid of running wires up the a-pillar because of the airbags in them

You won't have to run wires up the a-pillar. You can run them across and down the edge of the freestyle door. I did this for my overhead LCD. Not the easiest, but fishtape helps. Good luck!

I just installed DVD system...

I did it for my kids use, so only visable from the rear seat area. I placed a 7" TFT screen where the overhead dome light was located, I installed the DVD player between the seats behind the removeable console and secured to the package tray, I ran the remote IR to the front radio bezzel for activation, the wireless transmitter I located on the driver side headliner where the two doors join. This install was relatively simple, I used the alpine pie with the alpine to rca adapter for audio input to factory HU which I had to send off to get firmware updated from Matt at rx8garage (which by the way has been extremely helpful with all my questions on this install and upgrade!).

The complete install was less than 2 hours. I still have to replace the HU when it returns from the upgrade and install the 6 disc factory CD changer, but think my wife and kids will be quite happy with the final outcome.

I will try to post some photos this evening.

yeah, i noticed it would be in the way of the mirror... but thats why i want it to flip up....where there's a will, there's a way :p

the mirror could also be lowered, it doesn't look hard

P.S. i just noticed that he doesn't have the sun roof, thats why it works so well for him

I did in the center due to rear viewing angle. This unit was slim enough to mount up front, but would limit viewing by my small children from the back seat. MAYBE (2)? ..... thanks..

You mean LCD for computer? sweet....

Why not a 1 DIN bracket from R Magic... have you seen it. It sits exactly where the sat nav is and is able to fit any LCD that comes with a 1 DIN unit. Search the site and you will get a picture. Japan 8 have done a good buy and 8a8y 8 have done it in Sydney. Do a search with those name and should come up something.
