LED tube wiring help question

I bought a 4 led tube pack that comes with a controller built in to give different modes. I cut one of the tubes off so that I could wire it separately in the trunk. When I splice into the wire I cut off I get 4 wires. Blue, White, Red and Black. I tried connecting the red to the constant black wire in the trunk light harness and grounded with the black to no avail. I then wired all the wires except black to the constant and still nothing. Here are pics of what I'm working with.

yeah thought I could just cut and hard wire them separately. I guess I was wrong. I did wire them though on the inside as under seat lights. They do the job but I feel the same as you and want them with a switch as I had in my Accord.
