Let me out! Unlocking the doors!
So I lock the doors religiously when driving and also when I get out, but damn if it isn't annoying to try to get out of the car. Is there any way to make the doors just open and not act like they have child protection on?

^^^ all joking aside, I believe that's what the OP was referring to.
Also some cars when put into Park will unlock doors.
our car has no such features so you'll just need to get used to pressing the unlock button before you wish to exit the vehicle.

someone mechanically (as in a mechanical engineer type) inclined could probably fabricate a setup that would unlock the door with the handle opening.
How much you wanna bet you'd then have to pull the handle again? LOL. PUSH the button

What you want is a aftermarket basic alarm or even a keyless remote module. You want one with the feature "ignition controlled door locks". Just install the module and not the whole alarm system if you don't want the alarm. You want to hook up the door lock wiring to the alarm brain and the ignition circuit & battery circuit. Then program the alarm for it to unlock the doors when key is turned off. Or you can even program the doors to lock when key is turned on or whatever the alarm features are.
Buy an alarm at closeout from like amazon or sonic electronix for cheap. Pay like $50 or so.

Here are the steps I am used to get out of a car when the doors are locked: Pull handle. Open Door. Get out.
Now it is: reach down for unlock button. pull handle. open door. get out. endure glare of hate as passenger has to wait for me to free them as well.

This. In every car I have ever owned, to get out of the front seat (or at the very least, driver's side) you just pull the handle. Why is there an extra step with the RX8? This is the first car I have ever been in that treats the driver like a child. I honestly thought something was wrong with my car for this past week.

I'm pretty sure all the Mazdas (except the Ford clones, Tribute, B-Series truck) are like this. If the door is locked, you have to unlock it first before it will open. I think it's just whatever company decides.
That is what the aftermarket is for. Just get an aftermarket alarm module to have it automatically unlock the doors when you turn off the car.
I didn't like the fact my 8 had no heated mirrors, so I added them. I didn't like that the 3rd brake light was not LED so I bought one of those too....etc...etc..

Easiest way to get around this is to not lock the doors in the first place
I could be off base here, but by locking yourself in the car, you're treating yourself like a child.

Not to mention, why would the passengers have to wait if you press the unlock button? Wait, why am I even responding to this BS? Oh yeah, I forgot, I'm a post *****

if you windows are down? Why would you not just do as previously suggested and perform the Dukes of Hazard maneuver?
Now if you meant when the windows are up then you're likely not going to be able to open them anyway... that whole opposing forces thing...
