Looking to SWAP out base stereo for Bose Stereo.
Hey guys/gals. My base rx-8 has a crappy Stereo. I've never heard how a 300-watt Bose system sounded in the 8 but I assume it sounds a million times better than mine. I'm looking to swap out my stereo for a 300-watt Bode stereo but before I do, I wanted to hear your suggestions on maybe any alternate routes for good sound or maybe even just advice on your Bose Stereo and what you like about it.
I've searched threads about this topic but there are so many things going on in each thread that I figured the best way for me to get any answers at all would be to start one myself.
I would love to hear what you all think and maybe let me know how much a 300-watt Bose Stereo would run me. And mayyyybbbeee if anyone of you is selling yours, let me know? Cool.
Thanks in Advance! :-)

the work involved to do that would be virtually the same as upgrading to something aftermarket.
The boss system is seriously lacking in bass, and those rear 6x9's are non-existant.
I think your best bet is buying an amp, some aftermarket speakers and going from there. I recommend Infinity speakers...

oh ok, Well I bought 2 JL Audio 6x9 speakers and a Kenwood AMP off of a member last week but I was curious about the BOSE system as well, because I didn't want to go the aftermarket route if something that came with the car could sound better, but i'll take your word for it. I just need one more set of speakers and maybe a 4080 box for the trunk....

look for an audio thread by BRGREEN. He copied my audio setup, but his was starting with a non-bose system and upgrading. (I upgraded from my Bose)
The difference with the non-bose is that you don't have to worry abou the bose amps and it's easier to power the door / rear speakers

Bose blows, period. It always amazes me how Bose has thrived and survived on marketing and gimmicks for so long. Their home audio stuff is just as bad as their car audio stuff.
I can't wait to rip out the shitty Bose system in my car. I'll have to wait a while before I can upgrade the stereo system. It'll be done by this shop (www.sound-in-motion.com) once I've saved enough $$$. They installed a system (MB Quart speakers, Alpine h/u, Phoenix amp, JL sub, etc) in my former Eclipse GS-T and it sounded awesome.
