Question Mazda Front Seat Covers for the RX-8

Trussville Mazda is advertising RX-8 front seat covers made by Mazda. The price seems reasonable. To those who have bought these seat covers, are they comfortable? Would you buy them again, or are they not worth the effort?

Thanks.........

Here's a thread I posted earlier.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ht=seat+covers

The material is like neoprene and is kindof slippery (compared to the cloth seats), but other than that, they do their job of keeping the cloth seats new. I'd recommend them.

The wetsuit feeling is what I want to avoid. My wife bought some Wet Okole seat covers for her SUV. It felt like it was 90 degrees inside the car by the time you got to where you were going.

Adrian, it is not like a wetsuit type material, is it?
Thanks for responding!

Yes, It is like a wetsuit type material. Slippery , stretchy material.

I haven't really noticed if they get hot. I bought them in sept 04 so I didn't have them in the summertime.

I have the seat covers as well, and don't notice any sort of heat buildup, but I got my car in October. I like em, if for no reason other than it will keep my stock seats from wearing out. But who knows, I might take them off in the summer or something.

Yes, they do. The pic is of the only label in the covers. Find out who supplier code P3144 belongs to then you will know who makes them.

That type of material may work just fine. Thanks all for the opinions and suggestions!

It says front set so it has to be for two. They look nice.

I have been looking for something to use on the seats after I go running. Sweat will stain my cloth seats really fast.

I might want to use them just after running and then take them off so how easy are they to install and remove? Would you say only a minute or much longer?

Also, does the material seem to be waterproof?

Thanks,

They are highly water resistant, water beads quite well, don’t know how they would deal with a sweat soaked butt,They come off in less than 3 minutes and are held on by Velcro. They come in sections (bottom & seat back) and take about 5 minutes to put them on but I would not wish to do so 3-4 times a week. I use them on my leather seats during the summer.

seat covers

Anyone concerned with the side airbag operation , and the use of a seat cover? Got some cheapy one for the winter at Pepboys, but those said to avoid covering air bags. Are the Miata ones equiped with a break-away panel to allow the bag to deploy? Just wondering. BTW, how much were the set of covers?

The MAZDA RX8 seat covers have cutouts to let the airbags deploy.
Check this thread for a picture. , cost was $140 for the 2 fronts.
