and as for flyboyindy i dont believe the car has to be running to program it, i didnt have my car running to program it, it just tells me to turn the key to acc to program it not to actually start the car and run it, but maybe our adapters are different and require different install instructions.
Hey J, how do the wires look in terms of the ones you say have no slack. If I were simply to splice in extensions, which should be super easy, would there be another place to put the axxess box that won't require any trimming? I dunno last time I opened my radio I saw tons of space back there behind the HU... seems like metra could have chosen a better spot.

Also, can someone confirm that you do in fact have to trim the fit the control box on the DD units also?

sure you could splice into it, i just didnt want to make it a big time consuming thing, and im sure if you did that you wouldnt have to cut the trim because if you give your self enough slack you can put that thing anywhere you want, cutting the trim isnt hard tho and it wont be visible, the kit and everything covers it up, only reason why you wouldnt want to cut it is if you went back to the factory radio, even then it should still fit with the factory radio.

Did you ground pin 10? i think it was orange/black or red/black, that needs to be ground for the adapter to work.

There was no pin, in that slot... i will check again though...

Just got the stereo reinstalled after the repaint... NOW it looks like piano black!

Sorry if this has been pointed out before: what stereo is that? It also looks a little recessed into the dash, like it might not be flush with the sides of the kit. It may just be the lighting though. Do you have some play in terms of how to adjust the position of the front of the HU relative to the console?

NM it looks like an avic D3

Looks good. There may not be a wire in pin 10, what I did was took a pin out of the pink and blue wire (because im not using the aftermarket deck for nav just going to use stock nav) so I took a pin out of the blue and pink wire and added it to pin 10 then ground it.

Also I just noticed today that when I use the ac or heat the ac and heat works but the lights won't come on. Ie the green light when you turn on the ac or the orange light when you turn on the defrost, anyone else have that issue?

Thanks J... ill try that... =P You are a pretty good guy for someone that has carpet on his dash!

As for the Stereo being flush, the headunit (Pioneer Avic F90BT) doesnt fit entirely flush, but the picture exagerates it by the angle. It is as flush as it will go, and there realy isnt alot of adjustment to the angle. So far no problems, but as soon as I get my steering wheel hooked up ill be really happy!

Lol thanks, yeah I work at a shop so me and my mechanic did the work, he did most of it for me but when I told him what you had said that is what he said we did and suggested what you do,

I noticed in your pic looks like your ac is on the the green light for the ac button isn't on, do you have the same problem as me? The ac and heat works but when I push the ac button the green light doesn't come on, and when I push the defrost button the orange light won't come on same goes for the recycle non recycle button, only light that is ever on is the bottom right green light which I noticed is what is on in your car as well from your pic, does anyone else have this issue with there kit? If so I wonder if there is a fix for it, or if that's just how metra designed it, maybe they over looked that

Got the steering wheel controls working...that ground was the problem! Thanks again... I went out and checked... All of my orange and green lights come on when they are supposed to. You might want to go and check all your connections to the control box. I had a bit of a problem with the display screwing up... i played with the connections a bit, and its working fine now.

I had the same issue with the lights not coming on when i put mine in and it was the harness that plugs into the h/c controls on the temp side. it had slightly pulled out from the plug and the lights were not working on the controls....plugged it back in and everything worked just fine.

As far as extending the wires raphy3....the ones that you would be extending are the factory heating and cooling control wires and these are like 24awg wires. if you are worried about sacrificing the integrity of the car by cutting behind the dash, you are doing just about the same by cutting these wires and extending them, as they are not the wires that are provided by metra.

btw....i have pictures but have no idea how to get them on here cause they are not hosted on a web page.....kinda a newbie.....

Does anyone have pictures of the flat black in sunlight? Im not a fan of the High Gloss and never have been...but I want to make sure that the flat lines up something in the interior.

Nice work...really nice work actually. What would it take to get one of those ashtray inserts? Maybe something a little deeper so you actually have to push the iPod in to eject it so the door can stay closed.

i barely got that in there at that depth due to the transmission hump being where it is and all but if i were to mess around with it some more i would maybe be able to get it at a better angle to give me a little more clearance. it would just take more time.

Either that or you could move it more to the center and go in flatter to where that hole is behind that tray. I'd be willing to even forfeit the cig lighter if need be, or we could include it in a different layout and replace the whole back section behind the door. Let me know what kinda costs we are talkin...I might be interested if the price is right.

it's an 812 but with the kna-g510 so it has the navigation which pretty much makes it the same as the 8120. boot up is about 20 seconds which is bareable. i love all of the features on it though. i would recommend it to anyone.

I was wondering what the install plates for the radio (the ones that attach to the radio both sides) are like? Here's why...
I don't really like the single din pocket, and have an old Alpine iva-d900 that flips out, which would be nice to put on the bottom of a double din kit, so I didn't have the vents blocked...
from the folks here that have the 2din kit, is this possible? And is there away to attach a pocket there without too much trouble?
I realize this sounds like it will not look right, but I'd paint the pocket to match the kit etc...

it's possible, you will have to order an 88-00-9000 with it which is a universal pocket and just iso mount it above the radio. not sure how well it will work but it is a start. post some pics if you go ahead with the install.
