Well this sucks for a first post.... I have an 05, 6mt with the bose system. My metra single DIN was delivered today and install went well, until i turned on my head unit (blaunpunk orlando cd72). Everything is working perfectly except i am not getting any sound from my speakers . My sub is bumping so i know that my unit is producing a signal. Is there anything specific that i need to do for the bose speakers to work. By looking at everyone elses posts it doesnt look like i need an adaptor. Thanks!

Drink 6 beers and ack back to fix it, that always works for me.sounds like the bose amp isnt gettin power, or isnt being turned on by remote,if it even has a remote wire, drink 6 beers and you'll get it fixed.

yea, it was the remote wire (blue/white wire). guess i missed that one when i was doing all that soldering. all i have to say is, the bose system sounds amazing with an aftermarket head unit, and was definitely worth the frustration! thanks everyone!

I'm having issues trying to figure out what to put in now. I'm leaning strongly towards a kenwood for the Garmin GPS, which is what I'm used to. The DNX8120 seems a little on the pricey side for me. With a DNX5120 I would have enough leftover to get a rearview camera, bluetooth, and steering wheel adaptor still under the price of an 8120.
Are there any other better units I should consider in terms of bang for buck. Anyone on here have the DNX5120? Is it good/bad, long boot time, etc.?

I got mine at the TheCameraProfessionals.com it was $1080.00 when I bought it a few weeks ago. The price has dropped to $999.00 now. http://thecameraprofessionals.com/pr...?prodid=543762
I received it about 3 days after I placed my order.

Ok, I got my Pioneer AVIC-Z3 installed with the metra kit. However, my AC and both defrost buttons do not work at all. Has anyone else had this problem. I checked the connections and everything seems fine. Suggestions?

I've been seeing deals for the 5120 for so cheap it's hard to pass up. I've seen it for $579 on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=350107529056
I dunno; it's not like I can't afford the 8120, it's just that I'm a penny pincher by nature....
Devilboi, that thread is asking $1k for his setup.... which is the same price as the 8120. Maybe I'll make him an offer for something lower.
Edit to add: holy crap the 7120 and 5120 are both super cheap on that website that jeepnchris posted! $750 for a 7120 seems a good deal.

are you sure its not working at all or are the led's just not coming on? that is a common problem with the kit so far is the lights not working, mine are not working right now again, but the ac/heat works just the led's wont come on sometimes, they need to send everyone an updated usb cable.

They are not working at all because when I hold the mode button to modify the display the right defrost button, for example, does not change the text. I wish it was just the LED. Plus, I can't turn off the A/C.

wtf, the AC turning on and unable to turn it off, and unable to use any of the controls or modify the screen at all is a known issue?? So basically the kit completely not working at all is a known issue. lol, great, makes me real excited to get mine this week.

This doesn't make any sense. Its not failing to work for everyone...what is the difference between working cars and non-working cars?

Cool, it's working now. Looks like there was some problem with their site temporarily earlier. Thanks again for the link; those prices are the best I've seen yet.

With the connection problems:
I'm pretty sure this happens in the majority if not all of the kits. Your controls should work fine. It is just the indicator/indication that has problems. The engineer is buying an 8 and working on a fix, the good news is that these units should be USB upgradeable.
J_Owens: They do not have a fix yet, they will send the cable to those who are affected once they get this sorted.

I was happy until...
lol, man, metra must really be laughing at us, all the way to the bank right now. So I got my metra kit, opened it up, and said holy crap there is no way this thing should cost nearly $200! I would put it squarely at around $50 with a very healthy profit margin. No wonder the axxess box is causing so many people problems, this thing looks like a fragile peice of ****. Can that crappy thing really survive the extremes of temperatures that people's 8's are going to be in? I picked it up and almost threw my arm out is was so light, lol.
So I looked at the actual faceplate fascia thingy, and said, gee, I don't know why people don't like the "high gloss", it looks pretty good. It didn't look as bad as the one photo we saw earlier where it looked so textured, this looks almost not textured at all. So I was pretty happy...
until I brought it near the light, and viola, there is a scuff mark, right next to the hazard light recess. Then along the left side, ever so faint, is a slight scuff mark. The one on the side is nearly impossible to detect... but the one near the hazard light? It's like a giant zit right in the middle of a supermodel's face; I mean it will be in sunlight.
The effect is it goes from the high gloss color to kind of looking like it's matte black there a little. So they either a) forgot the paint on that part of it, or b) it got rubbed a bit in transit so that the high gloss is clouded up. I hope it's b, so I can do something about it cheaply myself.
I have some turtle wax rubbing compound stuff for getting small scratches out of cars. It really works, very well. Is that what people are using on this, or is that too heavy duty for this frail metra thing?

raphy3: yes there are huge margins in manufacturing, however R&D costs are normally over ten thousand from conception to manufacturing. although.. I could probably get it made in china for less than a thousand.
You might want to exchange this. If you are sure this is not a connection issue, then it might be an actual bad piece.

Any thoughts on the rubbing compound I should use to get the scuff near the hazard light out? Is scratch remover going to completely ruin this thing or will it have the desired effect?
