its not that they get messed up during installation, they get messed up over time from the **** being turned.

Yeah, apparantly it's a pretty common thing. The DIY thread is almost at 4 pages already and was just started in October. Then again, this one is at 27 pages and it was started 6 days prior to the HVAC one. Hmmmm

Try checking your connections.
No it was messed up. A couple wires came out and it was installation related not due to a defect.

the hidden bolt is on the driver side, you wont see it from removing the center console pieces, hard to explain how to see it, dont you have the instructions that came with the kit? it should have pictures,

open the driver side door, kneel down, face the left side of the center console pull back the panel and you will see a bolt, use a flashlight to see it. Its under the steering colum to the right you have to be on your knees like literally inside the driver side floor board to see it best way i could describe how to see it lol

I don't really know what that 10mm bolt holds in place, but when I put everything back together the first time back when I put an audiolink in, I didn't bother replacing that bolt. Haven't seen any problems, and makes subsequent installs/uninstalls easier.

Very cool. Thanks a million.

Anyone want to loan me an update cable? I'll pay for the shipping.

There is a thread somewhere on removing the radio where it has a good picture of the bolt.

The bolt holds the stock radio in place to secure it from vibrations, jerk, etc. An aftermarket headunit would have no place for the screw to go.

Toxic Gecko: My cable will be available.. Soon.. Ish..

I need to drive out to OC to get an update before your cable starts making the rounds.
I saw that you're not going to the K1 meet, but do you have any time on Saturday if I go to you?

Let's start a list:
1) raphy3 (I don't actually need to be first)
2) etc.

I am still only experiencing the occasional matrix display. And so far it only happened once in the past 3 weeks. So it's not too urgent for me. Others who are having more urgent bugs like no LEDs for their AC controls, etc. can go before me.

Do you have any time Friday afternoon-ish? (Today)

PM me and we'll work something out. I'm gonna be gone most of the week of Christmas, so my cable will go out after that time.
