Metra Kit-Is it worth it?

Metra Kit-Is it worth it?
I have looked at the Metra kit threads and it seems like it is riddled with issues. HVAC lights not working, top led display flickering, gauge cluster no longer dimming, and so on.
So is the metra kit worth it? it seems that if it wasn't so buggy there's no question it would be.
Are there any other options?

Edit: Doh, I RTFM and learned how to set the clock. The manual doesn't say anything about setting the ALC level, though. I'm wondering if my volume inconsistency issues are just the result of another crappy aftermarket audio job.

Buy it from a local Best Buy and make them price match the Amazon price. If it doesn't work, exchange it for another one. They'll have to order it in, but hey, consider the cost of sales tax and wait time insurance if it doesn't work.

I saw the Metra kit on Crutchfield.CA for $159 and if you buy a radio from them it's half price. I've never dealt with them myself but see if best buy can match that.

They're not going to match the half-price deal. But they'll match Amazon all day long. $149. If you buy your radio from them, they may work with you a bit more. And certainly if you let them do the labor I'm sure.

i saw the one on crutchfield and the half price deal, but i already have a head unit. i pulled it out of our other car before the insurance company took it. I did chat with a supervisor and he said any head unit qualifies for the 50% off the metra kit. i linked the supervisor to a $60 cd player, and he said that it qualified. so buy a $60 HU and save $80 on the metra. so total save $20 and get a free HU. ill probably go that route. plus they have a 60-day return policy.

Bought it what nearly 5 years ago when it first hit the market and no issues in all that time other than the oem dash clock bug that I was too lazy to fix since I would just use the headunit clock or phone. The one issue I do have is that the top left corner inside hook/snap on piece broke and now the front face is a little loose in that corner. Plastic trim breaks over time with vibration and temp so I'm not surprised.

I want to change to a 2 din aswell, with and Pioneer AVH-X3600DAB (no navi) player installed.
Main reason is that I have problems with the LCD display and have tried everything to make it work ( flickering problem)
I have an US model and are looking to buy the metra kit.
But my question is, does the OEM navigation system still work with the Metra kit ?
