metra sub install help!!!
Just installed a double din with thhe metra kit, now im trying to hookup my kicker amp and type R sub, but cant seem to get power into the amp, as far as I can tell, everythings hooked up correctly, I guess my two main questions are 1: which jack do i plug the rca cables into
2: Is there anything unusual about the 8 that is different from other audio installs?

I'll let someone who's done this before answer your question, but I would first make sure you've read this whole thread before asking anything else.

First, what is the model number of the headunit and amp? Just so we can get some specifics here...
You've ran your power wire from the battery, to the trunk and to the amp?
You've used the same gauge ground wire from the amp to some metal on the chassis? Bare metal to metal with no paint in between?
You've connected the blue/white wire from your new headunit to the remote turn on connection on the amp?
You've connected the RCAs from the sub or rear preout on your new headunit to the RCA inputs on the amp?
Are you sure the subwoofer is wired properly to the amp? (ie you didn't wire a dual 2-ohm Type-R in parallel)
Does the amp turn on? Any protection lights?
Nothing special about the RX8 as far as what you're installing.
Thank you.

You don't sound 100% positive everything is installed properly. I'm not trying to accuse you, but I'd at least have it looked at by someone with 50+ installs under their belt.
Ensure the RCA cables are connected to the rear RCA preout. And not left RCA to the front and right RCA to the rear or something simple like that.
Some headunits have a subwoofer on/off switch buried in its menu somewhere. Though there's only 2 preouts on that headunit, the manual says it has one. Which I really don't see the point with only 2 preouts, but that's what it says. Check page 47 of your manual (which you should have done before posting here I hope). RTFM .
And again, read over everything I posted previously. Triple check it all. Have another pair of eyes go over it. Again, does the amp turn on? Green light? Red light? If it's turning on, find a 3.5mm headphone plug to RCA adapter ($5) and plug your iPod directly into the amp. Works now?
Lastly, this goes for everyone reading this, if you're serious about installing car audio, I recommend spending a few bucks and buying a tone generator. Makes troubleshooting nearly every problem quick and easy.

Good that you got it working but I'm still not convinced you've got it right. In your first post you say you can't get power to the amp, then ask which jack you plug the RCAs into. Those are completely different things - power vs audio.
For a sub install, there is NO connection to the Metra harness at all. Power should come from the battery, and remote turn-on and audio signal from the head-unit/head-unit's harness.
