Metra Update 4 pin style how to do it
I have the USB CAB, I'm trying to figure out how to update the firmware, I tried popping the board out of the shell and hooking it into my desktop PC and it says it detects the 4 pin cable but can't find an updatable interface, do i need to have the metra box plugged in to my car with the key OFF to update this? I can't find anything on the net or the forums on how to do this. I'm trying to solve the issue with my climate control not blowing heat and only A/C, it has been a mighty cold last two winters.

just replied to your other thread; not likely the Metra kit. It’d typically default to heater always on without the Metra installed. So when you get the control board back and the heater still won’t come on you can start and warm it up without the Metra hooked up. If it still won’t warm up then it’s not the Metra box. Which I’m pretty sure it’s not anyway. It was likely the control board, but there are a few other possibilities if it still won’t work when the resoldered board comes back.

Bumping an older thread, I went through the same issue with Metra Axxess updater cable. The super nice guy at Metra explained that if the board firmware is F20, thats all she wrote. There should be a tag on the board with the software / firmware version. There is no other update available and will give that error.
