Mirror install

I am installing a factory RX8 homelink mirror on my MS6. My mirror only has two wires, the RX8 mirror has four. Can someone tell me which color wire goes where? Or email me a copy of the wiring diagram for it. Thanks, Terry

Your always doing wiring stuff!

Ok your MS6 has a regular auto dimming mirror or no? Does it have a compass built in? No homelink right?

Now the RX-8 mirror I assume is auto dimming, with homelink buttons, no compass right?

Let me know than I can try to help you, because I believe the MS6 has the wires for ignition circuit only since that is all it needs, while the RX8 needs wires for the battery circuit, meaning you can use the homelink while the car is turned off.

Yes, MS6 is auto dimming with compass. Only two wires, power and ground. RX8 mirror is auto dimming w/homelink, not sure about compass and don't care rather it works or not. Mirror has four wires, BK/Y, BK/GN, BK/R and BK. I need to know what they connect to. BK would seem obvious (ground), but want to make sure, don't want to toast a good mirror. Thanks again, Terry

ok....
black/red is B+, goes to room fuse
Black/green goes to backup light switch (reverse) on Manual Transmissions, goes to the transmission range switch (reverse) on automatic rx-8
black/yellow goes to ground
black goes to ignition power, on rx-8 it goes to the "meter" fuse

I don't know why you need a reverse wire tap? Maybe for the mirror not to dim in reverse from reflection if your backing into a parking space?

Thanks Jack. I'll have to try and get this thing wired up over the weekend.

All wired up and works great. The only problem I had was that the button on my windshield is smaller than the RX8 so I had to make a shim so it would mount tight. I got the RX8 button with the mirror, complete with a chunk of windshield still attached. I read somewhere that if you heat the button it will come off easy, so I gave it a try. Sure enough it came right off with a putty knife. Now I have to decide if I want to heat up the one on my windshield that much. It mounts to a black area on the windshield and I just don't know if it will damage anything, you have to get it pretty warm.

Would you happen to know the part number for the four wire Harness? I will be doing an install on a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3.

The plan would to order that 4 wire harness and bring the Speed 3 to the dealer and let them hook it up since I am not a wiring god.

Sorry, I don't have a part number. I bought the mirror used with the harness on it. Try going to a salvage yard, they would probably let you cut one off something on their lot.

Even if you don't have a harness you could just get some primary wire and do it yourself, with some fancy soldering and some fancy stuffz
