Moving the Power Outlet

I'm thinking of getting the Racing Beat Gauge Pod when it comes out. It goes where the ashtray is located. I was thinking of moving the power outlet from teh ashtray to the passenger air bag off blank on the dash located here:

Anybody do this yet? I'd like to keep the outlet for other uses.

Yes, I did this a long time ago; here is the post in my stereo install thread about it. I have a nicer plug since then

Awesome! That's what I needed to know, if it would fit.

I read your post, and after you said the red ring lights up, I went to look at mine, and it does not light up

Wink Stock....

Your ring don't shine?

"Mommas gonna buy you a jug of wine...."

My stock ashtray lighter unit has the red ring with a bulb behind it, what does yours look like? (I'll show you mine... )

I wonder if my bulb is burnt out, or the wire came off... Here it is lit up from Tamas

On this pic, it is actually not lit... but as I said, mine does light up with the dash lights. There is a bulb in the socket - if yours doesn't lit up, the bulb is burnt out or got disconnected somehow.
