mp3 info

I should be getting my mp3 player i ordered sometime this week. I have a question to those who may know. I've searched the forum and found that the mp3 will read only v.1 or v.1.1 id3 tags. So I'll see if i can use a tag editor to convert them. I did use Mp3 tag studio to convert to id3 v2 to id3 tag v1 and now it says it has both v1 and v2 is that correct?

If i have some mp3 files that doesn't have any id3 tags... does the mp3 player show the filename also?

If the id3 tags are not set or incorrect format it will show as "NO TITLE". But you can still cycle-it to the MP3 file name and that will always show. Downloading the latest WinAmp will allow you to edit both versions of tags.

I noticed most in-car mp3 players only cope with id3v1 tags...

Also - what's the directory/file navigation like on the mp3 player? I had an Alpine in my Jeep (before someone decided they wanted it more than I did) and the directory scrolling was OK, but a little clunky to navigate around from folder to foler.

What's the client side application of choice these days? Winamp? Musicmatch? something else?

Cheers,
Simon.

how do you switch from file name to id3 tags? will it read the entire filename... like longer than 8.3 characters? Does it read cdrw and do i nave to close the session when i'm buring the mp3's to the cd like i would have to when using a conventional cd player for it to play?

There's been some discussion of this over in the Audio forum -- I suggest you do a search there.

I found that it only read ID3v1 tags, but it didn't care if v2 tags were present or not.

Just have a feel of it cause it is still new to me.

Navigate through the folder is easy... disc up and down to choose the folder and folder name will be displayed. The length is not matter. Certainly it will display only certain number of it (I think is 13). But if the screen runs out of space you can dial the button on the right (the one you use to adjust base and tremble with).

It is nice.

I will download winamp and have a go.

I forgot what id tag it takes but it is written in the menu comes with the MP3

To sum up it is great - if only it display chinese/kanji then it will be perfect.
