My 7" LCD/Dash DVD player setup w vid.

Hey just wanted to put some pics and a vid up of my setup to give people ideas if theyre looking. I went with the upper dash piece from Mazdaparts.com..simply because I didnt like the bulky double din piece..this looks clean and factory, worth the money even though it is a simple piece to fabricate. Inside I got great deal on a Clarion 7" monitor. I was thinking about where to mount the DVD player, and decided I didnt want to go for the mount in the glovebox. Another thread has the setup for the 1/2 din player above the ashtray, so im not going to claim this as my idea. The whole dvd player install took about an hour or two, it just took a lot of patience and grinding..the fit is perfect though and almost factory looking once i clean up a few things. Be carefull pulling the radio out though, i got the whole crazy lcd/radio doesnt work/heater doesnt work virus for about a day and almost had to get a new radio before i straighted it out. Let me know if anyone has any questions if your following the same setup.

Heres the vid

Glad it worked out for ya. Might wanna re-read my thread...seems the buttons on that dvd player doesnt like heat. I did another mod on the dvd player and removed the buttons.

thanks to the heads up on the buttons...ill keep an eye out for that. This really seems like the cleanest way to me besides the corksport. What else do you need besides a nice high lcd and a dvd player not hidden in some ridiculous location

if you mount it in i can walk you through the wiring, its pretty straight forward once you get into it.

just Posted about the fit on a sep thread... cost was

retractable lcd nav holder- 350
clarion lcd screen- 190
1/2 din dvd player-60
aux input- 75

around 650? but i couldve cheaped on the screen and fm transmitter instead of aux input and spent less. It was worth it though to me..everything i need and extra rca inputs in the glove box to add anything i want anytime.

i thought it open itself like OEM Navi unit.. anyway 7' is better than stock monitor actually i've discussed with Jason since last year where to mount the 1/2 din DVD player like yours,as where you can see the yellow spot is where Jason would like to do and the red spot is mine, the thing is you need more work to get in there, where i think no one ever done it as DDJFLW setup,i really like to mount in there, but i think it'll only work with MT,so i'm just stuck mounted it in upper rear center console

I was thinking about the same setup . same lcd model and the retractable lcd nav holder.
I want to install dvd and rear view camera.
Where did you connected the audio on the bose? I have bose with mp3 and minidisk.
There is an extra input for me? or is used for the MD?

Looks great.

I keep losing track of the websites where they sell this stuff or else I'd know better right now... but does anyone know the difference in price between the JDM dash piece used here and the corksport din kit?

yeah now that rings a bell. I think the corksport thing is pushing $450 or something. The nav tray is like $350 like you said. Is the only place to get the nav tray from mazdaparts? I haven't seen anyone selling it anywhere else.
Thanks for the info btw.

Check japanparts.com or mazdaparts.com because I think they have the one you want.
