My audio situation

I just want to verify I'm doing things correctly, and not missing a step. I have the bose system, I'm looking to bypass it completely.

I have the metra system installed. Alpine w505 head unit.

I have the boston acoustic z6 component set, going to be driven by JBL px300.4,,
I have a SI BM 10" sub, going to be driven by JBL 300.1 (same amp brand purely coincidence).

I have the 6.5's on both sides wired and run to the trunk where the amp is.
I have the tweeters on both sides wired and run to the trunk also.

Now, by my calculations (its late now, and I worked all day, give me a break ), with my RCAs connected from my HU to my amp (only have px300.4 hooked up right now), I should get sound from the component set, correct?

Do I have to do anything else to make this work, in regards to the bose system?

I have read the audio sticky and it has helped immensely getting everything set up; so please don't tell me to read through that again!!

Thanks for your time in reading this,
Michael

Sounds like you have it covered. Couple of questions though, when you say wire to the trunk, you mean wired with new wiring from the speakers through the doors to the trunk? if so thats good.

Now what I don't get is why are the tweeters also run to the trunk? The wiring should go from the amp to the crossover to the seperate tweeters/woofers in the doors. You should not wire the tweeters and woofers seperately to the 4 channels on the amp.

You should have 2 pairs of wires going from the trunk mounted amp to the 2 crossovers (usually placed in the door close to the speakers). From the crossover, there are seperate outputs for the tweeter and woofer.

Juice-

Thanks for the reply. Well atleast you got my hopes up in saying so far so good

Let me explain. The crossovers for this set are huge, no way they'll fit in the doors. Had to buy extra wire for that exact reason, and that is why I have a run from the speakers to the amp (crossover actually, then to the amp), and same with the tweeters.

So basically, the crossovers will be in the trunk right next to the amp and that is why the mids and tweeters are wired separately.

My last setup in my old car ran active with 3 amps and no passive crossovers, I guess I'm getting myself a little confused with the x-overs

It'll all come back with time, I'm sure.

So I shouldn't have to worry about the bose setup anymore with the way I have it?

Nope, you should be good. I was looking at pictures of the Z6 and figured there wasn't a way to get them into the doors, but had to make sure. They look like they are a good 9 inches wide!

You should be fine with what you are doing, and shouldn't have to worry about the bose amp. I take it that you aren't going to be using the rear 6x9s with this setup correct?

That's correct. I used this front setup in my last build and the front stage was very good; I will go without rear fill again.

Thanks again.

There were a couple switches that needed to be flipped on the bottom of the HU, giving me the result of no sound but humming. It's all resolved now, pretty pumped on how this is going to sound.
