My Bro's Sony Woofer/Amp Install
My lil bro has an 05 BB GT. He installed his 12" Sony woofers and 1200w amp. Built the cabinets himself . Turned out pretty nice..
PS. yeah I know the carpet is not a match but still looks good... Also his Racing Stripes look bad @$$...

don't be so closed minded man, granted sony doesn't make top notch car audio equipment but for the price its a bargain. and there setups don't sound to bad. i was happy with my old xplod 12's and 750 watt amp.

sony 12" $109
Kicker 12" $129
Rockford Fosgate $120
Kicker and Rockford Fosgate are both better companies and barely cost more, granted they do make some expensive stuff they still make cheap stuff that is better quality than xplod
and i've owned Kicker and i would never buy anything else now...

12" Kicker Comps are $99 AND buy-one-get-one at Circuit City. Two quality subs for 100 bucks. Can't beat that.
Why he would go through all that work and then not match the carpet makes zero sense. Must have been on purpose, trying to match those racing stripes. Secondly, that is nearly the exact same design as the Zen box. Why not spend the $125 on the Zen box versus $50 and hours and hours of your time while hoping everything will turn out well?

yeah i forgot about the buy one get one sales at circuit city, my friend got some memphis audios real cheap there.
if you look around you can get stuff real cheap, i got a made by kicker box for $10 (yes that's ten) a kicker solo-baric L7 sub ($550) for $300, and 750.1 Kicker Mono Amp about ($500) for $350 all on ebay. (all was in my 1993 nissan altima)
but i agree about the hard work, yeah you feel good about it in the end, but usually it's not worth it when you can find stuff that's already made real cheap.

BurkeMan, you friend is mistaken. Circuit City has never once at any time carried Memphis Audio equipment.

if you buy a good quality product you know you're getting quality. sometimes the company can make it better than you can.
and as far as building your own custom box, unless you're using fiberglass or something you're really not making it that "custom"
throwing some wood togther in the shape of a square really isn't making something that custom.

Burke is correct. If the box specifies 3/4" MDF and guaranteed air tight construction.... you think you're going to get any different results by lugging a sheet of 3/4" MDF home from Lowes?
Socket, I think you're right.

looks good, clean build quality. i do have to say that sony is such a waste for that kind of effort. I asked for ideas from a couple of competition guys, and they sent me to some very high quality smaller companies, which tend to be lower priced. Blew my mind what I ended up with, I never thought it would sound as good, and everything installed, I paid less than 700. course I install myself, so that prolly made a diff
