my form of speeding ticket prevention...

inb4dontspeed

I bought VEIL shade for my headlights + taillights and registration stickers, an escort 9500ix from craigslist for 280, and a .02" piece of plastic that is supposed to make lidar not work on the back/front plate until at a close range.

the only thing i could consider adding would be a laser jammer but i'm hoping my current setup will deter me from getting any speeding tickets.

any of you try VEIL yourselves?

what prompted me to get all of this stuff was a 200 dollar ticket for 49 in 45...i normally speed worse than this but i got shot by a cop on foot hiding behind a tree that ran infront of my vehicle on the road and i almost hit him...only slowed cause i thought he was a crazy hobo and i didnt want to hit him.

well i hate to bust your bubble, but Lidar will still reflect off your car regardless of what you do to the headlights or plates.

not to mention that radar detectors are useless against the most modern versions of radar guns that have an instant-on feature... they will alert you yes, but only in time to tell you you're already busted.

your best bet against laser is Blinders

the Blinders? yes... I've seen it tested in person.

but that was older models of the technology, and a few years back. To be honest, I'm not even sure if this is the same manufacturer/technology as it used to be. But it is possible and I have seen it work before.

radar detector with bait in front of you, you want to pick up the instant on when it hits him. Hondas are good bait. The only time they be in front is on the freeway when you do not want to pass.

lidar will reflect off the car at a close range but not at 1500 ft. they pop you at 1500 feet you hear you brake, they get a reading at 1000 or 800 ft and youre already slow

ah but only the best of the best of radar detectors will pick up the scatter from a Lidar gun... and even then its not terribly reliable. so unless you get visuals at that range your still toast

not sure what area youre from and what your speeding tickets say but in texas a speeding ticket is for "Speeding 10% over posted" so a 49 in a 45 can easily be challenged in court because that is not 10% over...but anyway on the topic of this, have you seen something like this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...er+Device.html
seems to be in my opinion the best method of blocking lidar but id like to see it used first

If only I had enough money to buy an Interceptor, I wouldn't have to keep my speed under 100 mph. Oh wait, I don't.

The best speeding ticket prevention is not to exceed the speed limit

Oh, and it's free too ....

Sometimes the best way is to go out and drive 120 mph on the freeway and get the ticket. Pay the fine, the insurance.

That's a good incentive and deterrant not to speed.

So stop playing around.

Be a MAN. Just Do it!

10 points for this man.

People who buy all this crap to prevent additional tickets are fooling themselves.
I bought a radar detector, yes but I'd never had a speeding ticket in my LIFE when I bought it. Hell, I'd never had ANY tickets.
The best radar detector is the one between your ears and an RD should only be used as a second set of eyes, never something you need to rely on.

disagree. your eyes aren't going to see 1.5 miles down the road on the other side of a hill. you aren't going to see an unmarked cop blending in with traffic, or one hiding on the other side of an underpass. you aren't going to see a cop even 1/4 mile in front of you at nighttime with no streetlamps, pulled off the side with his lights off. but i get your point and it's a good one. be vigilant when you drive. i used to get a speeding ticket every 12-16 months. have never had one since getting an RD.

that said, i am completely defenseless against laser, which is getting be more and more of a threat. it's only a matter of time.

OP you should do more homework. Veil is a supplement. if you think you're safe against laser with that, and relying on your RD to pickup scatter, youre going to be disappointed, without question. laser interceptor has come down on pricing enough for it to be the only option. the difference between them and Blinder is like one speeding ticket. if i get a laser speeding ticket or have a close shave, i will probably pull the trigger on them at that point...

When I said the one between your ears, I was not implying one's eyes.
While I cannot SEE an officer 1.5 miles down the road on the other side of the hill, as an experienced driver, I know that cops love to sit on the other side of hills, I have come to expect them pulled off to the side with their lights off, and I try not to speed too much at night.

I'm not saying I don't speed, quite the contrary I do it almost every time I drive my cars but it's HOW one speeds that makes the difference.
Never be out ahead in a pack, never make excessive lane changes.
try to blend in, be mindful of cars suddenly tapping their brakes, watch you 6, and always ask yourself, "if I was a cop, where would I be?"

Ninja: congrats on not getting any tickets since getting the RD, that is a thing to be proud of and I'm sure the RD has helped you out quite a bit but I'm sure you've also learned from your experiences and the prior tickets so you're more alert AND the RD makes a great back up.

In a way, we are agreeing on our points even if the OP calls some of us trolls and has no desire to read our opinions since he posted in an open thread on a public forum.

dont speed, if you get caught, fight it in court, probably still cheaper than buying electronics that doesnt work anymore

btw, i really love that Cali has trial by written declaration

you really dont need all that, just a good detector

and if your going to speed and not get caught there has to be a decent amount of traffic, if not then your screwed and have no choice but to slow down, unless you want to push your luck
