My New 2008 RX8....

Hi There, I was hoping someone might be able to help me before I take my new car back to the dealer, it has 400 miles on it.

I installed the I pod adapter I bought from Mazda and now the radio, AC, and DIC does not work. I have looked through the manuals but cannot find any kind of "reset" procedure that maybe needs to be done.

Tried disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes with no luck.

I was thinking too that this might be one of those security features incase someone wants to steal the radio etc.

I did not have the dealer do it in the first place because I did not want to spend 284.00 dollars but now I am thinking I should have just paid the money.

Did I really screw something up?

Just a fluke that stuff does not work?

Or some magic reset somewhere?

Would appreciate any help on this matter

Thanks
Stu In AZ

Sounds like you unplugged a harness or something. Many members here have that exact adapter or a very similar look-alike brand. Pull the radio out a touch and snap the plug into the empty socket. Not rocket science. If you're positive you didn't do anything wrong, take it to the dealer.

i agree...take it back apart to make sure everything is ok. If evrything is plugged in and nothing still works unfortunatly yeah the dealer is the option.

Well I heard from the dealer and the radio is fried along with a major fuse under hood. At least I know it was not something simple and stupid. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

Just one of those weird fluke things that happen.

Well I got the car back today 5-3-2008 and the entire radio had to be replaced, in the 08 with the premium sound the radio is pretty heavily integrated. however it was all covered under warranty. So I now have tunes, AC again.

Thanks again to all who replied

That's great that they covered it under warranty. I expected them to say you screwed up with the iPod install. Good news.

Agreed. Why is it that we seem to have crappy dealers? Everyone on this board complains about the dealer screwing them over or refusing service. My father has worked for GM for probably 40 years over 2 or 3 dealerships. At every dealership, they will bend over backwards trying to cover stuff under warranty for the customer. And why shouldn't they? It's work for the shop, and they're commission based. Ironic enough, my father drives an Audi. The Audi dealership gives my father the world when he comes in there. An example, his car had to stay at the dealer overnight a few months ago (for something that SHOULDNT have even been under warranty). They lent him an 07 Porsche Cayman S.

Hadn't even had my 8 a month and my dealer acted like they didn't even want to talk to me. Been that way ever since.
