My Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT

This is the deck I installed before the winter, just took some quick pics with the phone.
Deck specs:
Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT
7" WVGA Touchscreen
DVD, MP3, USB, SD Slot, Full Bluetooth
Full Voice Control
Full North American Navigation
Other specs not listed, can't think of all off the top of my head. It has been modified so that watching DVD's while driving is possible.

Let me know what you think, full install took 2 hours.

I've had this radio in my car for going on 2 years now, absolutely love it, I also have the steering wheel controls working without issue and the blutooth mic on my driver side a pillar.
Going from my d series to this was pretty drastic, only thing I want to do is change my background and I haven't taken the time to figure out how to do that yet.

Hi,

I put an AVIC Z2 in my Son's car, not RX, a couple years back. Since I never can leave well enough alone, I started researching different Hacks that could be done.

I found AVIC411.com and learned a lot. I Hacked it to watch videos any time, Installed larger Hard Drive, learned how to change the background and lots more.

If you don't know how to do what you want visit this site and you'll find how to do whatever you want.

Your install looks Great!!!

Best Regards...

How did you mount it? Love the look, nice and clean. I'd be interested in doing this to my 8 so if you could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. *Nevermind, I saw you mention the Metra kit in another thread.*

@canaryrx8: do you know if the the steering wheel controls work with any of these AVIC units? I've got my eye of the X930BT version.

+1 on the Axxess interface, but -1 on the x930bt. Other than the lack of ****, the x920bt is the same unit except it has voice recognition

Where did you ground your unit? And where did you attach the wires needed for the nav function like reverse and speed control or something it said in the manual I'm having trouble figuring out what to do

^ Actually I never bothered hooking up the reverse/speed sensor wires. The way I look at it, my speedo tells me how fast I am going (That is the purpose of hooking up that wire - so the deck can tell you how fast your going). They say it also helps with accuracy in the Nav function, but mine has worked superb since install.

Ground it on the black ground wire? Lol... hope this helps

Thanks! I figured that one out

Ok one more specific question about duplicAtes in the metra kit

The orange from metra is for illumination the orange and white is for dimmer
Which did you connect to the orange on the avic harness

And the blue on the metra is for antenna and the blue and white is amp remote and I have a separate amp saying i should connect a wire to the blue and white on the HU so I have 3 wires that are supposed to connect to the blue and white which one did you connect?antenna(blue metra to bluewhite avic) or Bose amp thing (blue white metra to blue white avic), or separate amp for sub ( wire from kicker amp from rear of car to blue white on avic)

These are the last couple wires I have to connect and I'll be ready to put it in the car

Ah, good question... Has me thinking. I believe I hooked the dimmer onto the AVIC HU - Test it out. Hook it up, turn on the deck, and turn the car to A/C mode. Go into the GPS function of the deck, and the background should be white. Turn on your headlights, and, if you connected the proper wire, the background should go dark. Like I said, I can't remember which one I did.

As for the amp - I can't say I know for sure if the Bose Rx8's have a Bose amp in them (I can't imagine they would). Don't worry about the wires on the metra kit for the amp. If you are going to be running an amp for a sub, you will be running a line up to the deck with the RC cords for the Remote Wire for the amp. This wire will attach to the blue/white coming out of the HU for amp control.

Don't do anything with the power antenna wire - Our cars do not have them.

SO, RE-CAP:

- Orange - Test them out. I can't remember, but dimmer sounds right
- Blue - Do nothing with. Leave it as it is.
- Blue/White on Metra Kit- Leave as is
- Blue/White coming from HU is where you will attach the remote wire from your Amp

Alright total what I did
Connected dimmer to orange wire and it works
If you don't connect blue white on metra your existing speakers do not work
I did nothing with the blue
And connect both the remote for separate amp and bluewhite from metra to the blue white from avic and all works flawlessly and also my unit has not yet locked (hopefully it wont if i did it correctly) because I did the bypass also the install looks great and I appreciate all your help and I didn't connect the vss wire (speed sensor) and manual transmission doesn't have reverse sensor so I left them I ran the mic up the a pillar and put the gps wire on the dash. Everything looks clean I'll post pictures if I get a chance today.

One simple problem I did run into was I forgot to take the white clips from the original faceplate and it took me 5-10 minutes to realize I missed that step and that that's whythe faceplate wouldn't sit snug but overall it's amazing! Got the steering wheel controls working correctly and I'm burnt out on audio equipment install for awhile

Appreciate the assistance.

The blue/white wire on the Metra harness is the Bose amp turn on. Must be connected.

The VSS wire is in the factory radio harness. Can't remember the color off the top of my head, but a little searching on here will turn it up. It's listed in the corksport kit manual too if that helps. Helps with GPS accuracy during times when satellite lock is lost. Takes 2 seconds to connect in our cars, so why not.

^ True on connecting that wire. As for the blue/white, I wouldn't know about that, I don't got the Bose system
