NAV software update rec'd in mail today
Anyone else receive this from Mazda?
I have a few questions before I update the software:
1. How do I eject the damn disk? Sorry, I just checked it quickly and couldn't find the stinkin eject button.
2. Is this going to actually update the maps to 2005 since they are from 2002 with the stock CD or is it just some sort of other software change?
3. Will I still be able to use the system while the car is moving? I know that for some new cars, the e-brake must be engaged in order to use the NAV.
Thx in advance for any answers you guys can provide.

Nav Update Disk
I recieved the update in the mail yesterday and I didnt request it. I updated the system on my 04 and now I have the Mazda logo at startup and most of the other options that come with the newer Nav units. It isnt a map update its only a software update for the system. the map update will need to be purchased from Navteq.

From what I've seen so far...
1. The Mazda logo comes up when you turn on the car instead of Panasonic
2. Resolution is a little better than before
3. When you have to get off at an exit on the highway, the navigation system splits into two screens
4. When approaching exits and entering highways, the navigation chick actually says the name of the exit and highway now instead of just saying "highway" and "exit" (For example, she says "turn right onto I-95 SOUTH")
5. There are little blue arrows drawn on the map to indicate when you have to make turns
6. Some text is drawn in blue instead of black now (city names I think)
7. The route calculations and speed seems to have improved a bit
8. When you want to cancel guidance to a destination, it's not labeled "delete destination" instead of "cancel guidance"
That's about all I can think of right now

So, lets clear this up ASAP..
1, this is not the same update that i offer.
2. my update is complete..
here's the Beef,
My update gets you to the newest firmware.. and we replace a IC ROM that allows your Nav to process the Maps faster... The disk you will receive from Mazda is just a newer ver of the Firmware but not the latest !! and you will still process the maps very slowly.
I am very happy Mazda released the Software but please keep in mind if you want the Fastest and the newest Firmware and the IC rom that allows your system to process the maps faster, we still offer it and yes i still need your OEM DVD nav unit.
Just keep that in mind .. Yes you need my update or the disk only to run the newest navteq map.. But again remember it will not be as fast as it can be.
Lastly if you have my NAv update ..Do not install the Mazda Firmware or you will be going back a step. !!! Anyone that has the NAv Update i provide is already at the latest firmware, so don't install the disk you will not be pleased!
