Navteq & DVD option??
I was at a local car audio shop here in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area and was talking with the owner about DVD options for my RX8 which has navigation. He said the head unit for the RX8 could be sent out to NAVTEQ and could be set up with an input for a DVD or XBOX/Playstation. He said he recently had it done to his personal vehicle which is an 05 Chrysler 300. Anyone else heard of this option?

So what he is saying is a headunit upgrade/update will allow video to play thru the oem flip up with out the dvd rom in the middle console being wired to? how would this be possible audio yes but I cant see how a video source would connect
p.s its probably cheaper to get the new ave unit for $250

with the mazda, it is not available to send the h/u out to get modded for this option. you need a convertor/switcher box that will convert video signal (xbox, dvd, etc) to rgb signal. the switcher part will interrupt the feed from the dvd nav and inject the new signal to the nav monitor.
some head units, like the chrysler with the nav built in, have to be sent out, others like honda are a plug and play box, and others are like our 8's.
