i dont remember any wires to tap with mine. you should just plug it in to the CD changer port, then connect your ipod on the other end. maybe you got the wrong kit.

Just like Nuke said...

The iPod adapter box has two plugs on it. The supplied wires are keyed to only go on one way:

One wire that goes to the back (right side, 16 pin) plug on the radio.

One wire that goes to the iPod.

All power to the module is supplied through the 16 pin plug. NO wires are tapped or cut in the installation.

The Mazda part number for the RX-8 is: C236 79 CFZ.

Did you buy this module new?

yes mazda dealer threw it in, i was a bit weary when i say mazda 5 on all the paperwork. i hooked it up, there is a loop for the aux input so that you dont lose it but there are a total of 3 plugs on the module, one for the ipod cable, one that goes to the stereo and one that is labeled aux which allows you to retain the factory aux

see if it works without plugging those in. the 8 doesn't have an aux in, except maybe the 09's.

Ahhh, an '09

Sorry, your join date threw me, lol.

The part number for an '09 should be:

iPod® adapter2* F197-79-CFZ
iPod® adapter2 harness kit (GS only)† C9F1-V6-029
iPod® adapter2 harness kit (for vehicles with Bluetooth® and/or SIRIUS Satellite Radio)† C9F4-V6-029
iPod® adapter2 harness kit (for vehicles with Bluetooth®, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Navigation System)† C9F5-V6-029

Sorry, I don't have a clue where to get the installation manual for the '09.

You shouldn't need to connect anything to the display for it to work with the ipod. It sounds like you just need to get to the right aux mode on your head unit. By chance does it work if you press CD as if you were going to the CD Changer?

if you have access to a scanner it would be really cool if you could post those instructions for others somewhere.
