Need help changing the dash display

I recently got an rx8 with an aftermarket head unit, and the red display panel in the center of the dash that shows the temp/time has the previous owners name displaying. Is there any way to change this without a stock radio?

heh.. you got it the wrong way around. there's no way to change it with a stock deck.

you can do it with the metra kit, which you almost certainly have. couldn't say how as i don't have one myself, but other more knowledgeable people will be able to chime in and tell you.

just giving you hope in the interim

For anyone else with this problem, I found the solution.

Metra Part # 95-7510 | Mazda RX8 Dash kit | Metra Online

There's a PDF under the photo that tells you how.

Since I finally found someone talking about The Dash Display, has anyone had the problem of their Display going Haywire every so often and have you found a salutation?

Been looking for a thread on these Metra Dash Kits. Thinking of fitting a Sony wav 601BT to my 2008 Velocity Red with this kit.
Does it work with rhd European spec cars?

The metra kit replaces the radio interface that you have. It will fit any standard Single DIN or Double DIN radio unit.

On another note, my AC Mode and front defroster buttons are un-responsive so I can't change the screen name or the clock. Anybody know if there's a way to factory reset it?

Same thing happened to me after I got my new (second) head unit installed. Metra was working fine before that. Also the ac/heat is wonky, possibly because the AC button is always on... I'm thinking about buying another Metra kit and installing it and seeing if that fixes the problem.
