need male and female sirius/ipod head unit plugs ... I want Sirius AND IPOD
Hi There,
I dunno why this hasn't been done yet, but i'm planning on building a switch box. I want both sirius and IPOD. They both plug into the same place, so the obvious solution is to make an automatic switching box. I will probably do it with some small relays. Not exactly sure how i will lay out the schematic yet, but i want it to be clean. SO..... i need two female and one male plug that match up to the plug that goes into teh head unit from the sirius and IPOD integration kit. Anyone know a place where i could get these? I'm sure SOMEONE has to manufacture them for mazda.
Also,
would anyone be interested in one of these switch boxes? should be relatively plug and play. Power is already there for teh relays. Only issue i can think of is you probably shouldn't be using one of the units when you hit the switch.
thanks for any help,
Jordan

Doable. But while you're at it, you mise well make it switch automatically. Maybe it defaults to one or the other, but when it a relay gets power from the other source... it switches. When that power disappears (maybe because you turn off the iPod for example), the unit defaults back to sirius. Just a quick brain storm.

yes i guess that would make some sense, but its a lot of extra work. one push-button switch mounted somewhere wouldn't really be a pain to switch.
the real key is finding those plugs. i could do it by hacking up the wiring harnesses for each unit, but i erally don't want to do that. i'd like it to be a plug in unit.

Any updates? www.molex.com has a ton of connectors. I haven't received the AudioLink yet, so not sure what connector it uses. Thinking about just getting a Y connnector of sorts, and leaving out the switch part. Unless that would end up causing problems.....
