Need Navi part # piecemeal?
Does anybody know... is there a part # for the navi screen alone, or could it be ordered through navitech? My brother lives in Puerto Rico (where the Nav system is not even an option since no one makes digital maps for the area) but would like the screen to make a OEM look DVD player/ Rearview camara/ Digital dash. So far the Stealerships we have talked to in PR and Florida say you have to buy the whole $2,000.00+ boat anchor if you want the screeen :-(
All we really need is the screen with the trim pieces, the electric servos that raise/lower it and the tilt buttons that it has at the sides.

I have been trying to find out where you can buy these items as well for a while now since my RX-8 did not come with the nav system either. What I have been told by the dealerships is you can not even buy it unless you are replacing your existing system. I even offered to buy the whole setup and they could not sell it to me(which seems stupid).

The part number is 66-DBO. You won't be able to find it cost-effectively though. The price for the assembly is about $1500, that's the motorized housing and LCD screen together. You have to buy the entire thing - dash molding, motorized housing, and LCD all together. Mazda doesn't sell them as individual pieces. I've tried looking. If you want to shell out $1500 for it, call up Rosenthal or Trussville Mazda.
There's also a member on this board who went to the trouble of putting in the entire factory nav system after purchasing the car. This was a ton of work, and ultimately cost in the range of $4000 if I'm not mistaken. You can search for it.
I say, buy the immovable nav tray from Canzoomer. Or, find a totaled 8 with the nav housing and pull it out from there. Or, get cozy with the service department at your local Mazda dealership and have them give you a busted housing if one comes in for warranty replacement.
