Need some help polishing audio plans

First of all I want to give my props to everyone, there are so many of you whose stuff I have read and found very helpful. Thank you all for that. Here's what I'm wondering if I can set up, and I would love to get some input.

I have a Sony blackface panel, and would love to hook it up, of course, where can you do that? Well I was thinking and playing, and the ash tray area looks good. When I took it out, there's a bar going across the back of it, can this backing be taken out and then an aftermarket reciever installed there, and the radio controls dropped? I understand I'd loose the steering controls, but if I can get that unit in there it'd be great, I'd love to hear some suggestions. Then I could plug in my iPod through the aux ,,,,which would be nice,,,,

Then if I can't get that, regardless I have two Line out converters, anyone who wants to share info on that, it would be great although there are already some threads on that.

And of course, I have two tens that will be going in the trunk, custom boxes are being built, and I'm going to work on getting through that firewall tommorow. And then I was thinking of putting a 3-way speaker either in the console between the seats, and running that through the amp.

And dudes! I had no idea that area behind the cupholders was there! That looks like a great place for a monitor,,,,,,

OK, so, let me know what you can. I'm not really sure how this can all be done, but past threads have helped immensely and I will update you all on my progress and I encourage your help.
