Angry Neo Ion Problems.... Anyone experience this before?

Thanks in advance guys...

Here's the deal, I've attached the Neo box to the HU, the Icelink to the Neobox, and the Ipod to the Icelink.

Unfortunately, no matter what I try to do, the HU does not acknowledge the existence of a "CD Changer" (i.e., the Neo iOn). The manual says in these situations to check the connections...

---Checked, checked, checked, re-checked...reinstalled like 5 times...

...or to pull out the fuse for thirty seconds and let the radio reset itself...

---Pulled fuse, pulled negative terminal, tried reinstalling the icelink system, pulled fuse again, reset the radio probably 8-10 times...still nothing...

Strangely enough though, the Ipod Mini switches over into the Neo user interface, yet the head unit can't detect (and thus cannot switch over to) the EX 1 mode...

I've got a 9.67 head unit, an iPod mini, the M flash, clear corners and rotary accents, and a self installed shock sensor...oh, and Speedracer and Spin9k helped me change my oil a couple weeks ago... I should have everything right?

Has anyone experienced this before? How did u fix it? Do I have a broken Neo box? (When I received it in the mail today, the black cover was a little bit loose, it looked like the package had gotten jostled a bit). Also, the icelink module runs a bit hot, but I'm thinking that's not a big deal since it's just a bunch of ICs in a heatshrink tube.

Any advice?

HELP!!!!

(thanks)

-P23

P.S. I'm a pro at taking the console apart now... :D

Potero,

Mine did the same after 2 days. I called up Logan at NEO and we discussed and went through some trouble shooting. In the end I sent the unit back and they replaced it. Now I have it for over 2 weeks with no issues at all.

Just to clarify, the clear corners, rotary accents, shock sensor, etc don't affect the Neo Adapter . I orignially had a problem with mine unitl i realized the firmware was not high enough. In my unit, I also had a few wires loose in the connector that gets plugged into the HU... if you have any loose wires, the adapter WILL NOT work. Make sure all of the wires are connected and did not come loose or become frayed from bending them. If you can't seem to get it working, I am sure Neo Car Audio will replace the unit for you. That's probably your best bet.

definitely exhange the Neo...there isn't any magic to the unit it should just work (after pressing the CD button twice or mode on steering wheel till you get there)

*AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH*

I'm pissed! I had the order rushed so that I could use it this weekend for a four hour roadtrip to Maine! Instead I stayed up half the night trying to get the damn thing to work, I've been dead all day at work because of it, and now I'm worried about falling asleep at the wheel...

Anyways, thanks for the help guys!

FYI cuz I know people are going to ask (at least I'm self delusional enough to think people care): I'm rafting Dead River, should be a class V dam release and I'm leaving in 2 hours.

I have a 05 with F/W 9.67. I bought the Neo 2 weeks ago. The HU sometimes won't recognize the EX at each start up. Last monday, I figured that I need to turn on, turn off, turn on the HU and this procedure works everytime. It's very strange. I called them and they have no idea about this. They said they have tested for 04, but they don't have 05 to play around. Other people on the forum has also said their Icelink have strange behavior. I guess I have to stick with this option until something better comes around.

Yesterday I was at Walmart browsing magazine while my gf show, I saw this on the magazine. I went to the site and was disappointed that they don't have RX8 application.

I have the same issue. I always have to turn the HU on then off then back on once I start my car.

PS. I have an O4 with 9.55

04 RX-8 with a head unit that has firmware version 9.5

I have an 04 RX-8 with a head unit that has firmware version 9.5 and a new NEO ION. It does not work at all. So I looked for somewhere in Southern California that would be able to upgrade the firmware. The Mazda dealership didn't even know what it (firmware) was and the car audio shops knew but had no way of performing the upgrade. I found someone on this message board who would do the upgrade but they are on the east coast and personally I don't feel good about shipping it across the country for something that I'm guessing is so simple to do with the right tool.

Does anyone know what it actually takes to perform the upgrade?
Is it a cable or a CD for the upgrade?
Does anyone know anyone here in Southern California that can help?

Thanks in advance for your help. We need to get a connection in the area for help with this. Any help will make a difference.

Randy

this subject has been beaten to death and beyond

if you search the forum you will see there is no way to upgrade your firmware unless you buy a new unit from a dealership (minimum $350 and no guarantee you are getting an upgraded unit) or get the one and only upgrade from www.mazdaparts.com a legitimate vendor of the forum

I upgraded mine through www.mazdaparts.com and it was an easy process that took only a week long there and back.

good luck

Thanks for your help. This is a bummer and I am not happy with the lack of support from Mazda. I will contact mazdaparts.com and send my head unit to have it updated.
