new idea for guages....
I was looking at my dash this morning, and had a thought. What about fabbing a mount to put the 3 guages to the left of the radio, rather then where the ash tray is, or up in the dash. Putting them up in the dash screams that you have modified the car, and if done well, to the side there would look more like it came that way to me. Curious if anyone had considered this/and or tried it.
If you dont get what I am saying, roughly in the area of green circles, and not top or bottom of radio.
Thanks DeanRX for the pic, I borrowed it because I don't have any of my interior on this computer at the moment, I am not trying to pass it off as my own

Yeah you wouldn't be able to make it fit unless you were a malnourished midget.
If you want stealth as possible; then prolly have to look at CRH's gauge set-up (thin gauges behind the rear view mirror).

my knee goes near there as well, but with fiberglass, it would hold. The possibility is also to put it on the exact opposite side of the radio, I just like the idea. Mostly just interested in peoples opinions

The whole point of gauges is to quickly be able to see what your engine is doing without having to take your eyes completely off the road. That's why most places are your peripheral right or left (dash or a-pillar; respectively)
The gauges in the ashtray / what you were proposing above defeat the whole purpose...

when SuperAutoBacs created an 8 they put gauges in the door and moved the lock and window controls,,,
I think they would be easier to see for the driver rather than in the side of the console, and wouldnt be as visible to outside viewers.
