So that U-series obviously copies Eclipse double-din with the removable Tom-Tom. Eclipse's bombed and I'm sure Pioneer's will too.
Now with that model out of the way, we have an F-series with different software and an over priced F-series with a larger screen.
Seriously. The X-series looks identical on the outside, and I don't see any real additional features to the software anyway. Small stuff. I didn't see a hard drive listed on that set of features for the Z-series, so what's the big deal? Larger screen and that's it? $1,600 MSRP for that? It would sure seem that way.

The new Z-series I am a fan of and is gaining popularity at avic411 because of the speed. The boot time is crazy fast, and the responsiveness is nearly perfect.
That said, if someone already has a F-series or current Z-series HU, there really isnt much of a reason to change. On the other hand, someone like me who just happens to be looking at getting one soon, should probably wait the extra month and try to get one of the new ones.

The new Eclipse that is removeable is far from bombing, it has proven to be a great unit. Bluetooth, USB, dvd, ipod on board and ready for use in two places as well as portable. It is a great unit. The realtors love this one here. It is easy for them to take to work, to their own vehicle and out on the mountain bike paths.
The new Pioneers hopefully are going to be the huge upgrade to the line that I was hoping for. I did not support their last Avic generation at all, I just could not sell it in good faith to my customers.

My D3 boots up in 10 seconds. So honestly the new Z series is nothing really "crazy" or "special". And with an MSRP like that, we probably won't be able to get it under $1k. So what's with the price tag?
That Eclipse with the removable Tom Tom has bombed in my area. I had customers flat out laugh at it. It was ugly as sin. Although I will admit this new Pioneer flows MUCH nicer and looks all around MUCH better then the old Eclipse. The old Eclipse was something like $1400 and was side by side with the F90BT. And quite honestly, I don't feel a majority of people want a removable GPS unit in their car like that. Sounds like a great idea on paper. Sounds like it would actually come in handy sometimes. But honestly, I think it only appeals to a very small percentage of customers. I know I wouldn't use that feature. To each their own though.

Interesting how the U310BT repeatedly calls the face simply a "detachable face for security." Makes you think that it cannot be used as a stand alone unit. Even after reviewing the info on Pioneer.com, it still leads you to believe that. No where was that mentioned. Even in the key features section.
However I read through the owners manual..... and ONE TIME it does in fact say that it can be used even when you're away from the car. Very interesting why they don't try to push that feature as a selling point.
