New Shinka and Sirius activation

Hi -

New 06 Shinka owner here. Have a quick question for you. The Shinka package comes with 1 year free Sirius sat radio. So far, we have not been able to figure out how to activate it. Sirius says its only 6 months free and says we should call the dealer. We called the dealer, they are clueless.

Anyone else run into this? Is there some special promotion code the dealer should have provide?

Other than that, great car, looking forward to hanging out more and learning what I can.

Thanks.

hmmm....

We did that, but when we look at the account on-line, it says its a 6month activation. We are supposed to get a year. Does your account show a full year?

Is the 1 year free in writing? if it is there should be a validation date (usually in small print).

They said the same thing to me! Time for a call to mazda perhaps?!?!

I repeated a few times that my window sticker explicitly says "1 Year" and that it's marketed all over the MAZDAUSA web site, and it was a huge selling point for the car, and i wanted to hear howard...that didn't really get the problem solved, but they extended my trial to a year for free.

Technically i wanted them to figure out what was wrong and fix it...but i suppose i got a year either way, *shrug*.

I think they went through the "extensions" department to extend it to a year for me....hope that helps!

Nearly every marketing piece about the Shinka package says 1 year free Sirius. - "SIRIUS Satellite Radio System with 1 year subscription (N/A Hawaii/Alaska)"

Thanks, we'll try going the extentions route, we are pretty much in the same boat. I want the dealer to find out what the deal is, but the just keep stalling.

So far our dealer has been completely useless with this. Other things too, I dont see us going back there for anything really.

Cool, now we need to find out how to program this key!

Apparently it can be programmed to lock/unlock when leaving/approaching the car!

My dealer wanted to charge me...booooo.

We need to get a service guy to give us the info on how to do it!

Whoa, that sucks. Our dealer said we had to go to the service dept to get that done, but they said no charge for it.

Can't decide if we really want to do it or not. Nice if you are out and about, but kind of a pain for it to auto-lock while the car is sitting in my garage.

Let me know if you find out the secret. It cant be that hard.

Can you call that service DEPT and ask for a step by step...i'm assuming it's simple...the 06 owners would be indebted to you!

Yeah, their first reaction is always NO...you'll have to resort to asking with more insistance...or a headlock.

That ticks me off! If you follow the directions that Mazda gave ME, it says to turn the same ****... which causes it to scroll from 033 - 037... Ugh

When I got my '06 Shinka it took a bit of time to get the hang of it. I had an aftermarket XM instaled in my '05 RX-8. The Sirius sounds so much better. You have to call Sirius to activate it. Playboy is also included and they'll ask you if you want it. Hell it's free and an extra channel. Listen to channel 198...lol!

Sirus activation

I am having the same problem with Sirus. They tell me it is only a 6 month subscription. I have faxed in the window sticker showing the comitment of Mazda to a 1 year sub. I am now waiting for their reply. When I get it resolved I'll let everyone know how it went.

I agree with a previous post, Sirus sound quality is horrible, it reminds me of AM radio.
