No more radar detector wire
Had some free time today. I removed the center dash (per the mp3 DIY thread) and ran the radar detector wire behind it. No more radar detector wire hanging on my center dash. ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

But you've still got it plugged into the cigarette lighter! Arghhhh...
Autozone has that $8 Pep Boys mini-fuse jumper/extender for about $2. You could cut the cord, run one line to the fuse jumper and the other to ground. A much better solution -- and you'd be able to close your ashtray!

Took me about 2hrs.
I don't use the cigarette lighter for anything else. The ashtray still closes, I just opened it to show it's plugged in.
I was thinking about placing the detector up by the rear view mirror and wire it to the light as others have done, but I didn't like the placement.
