OEM Stereo Confusion
#26
I could be wrong on this, but I spent countless hours playing with the Bose setup in my own car. Triple check that the connection between the faceplate and the actual radio is solid. I and a few others made the mistake of pulling this connection apart without realizing it while uninstalling, (you dont know if the previous owner did this as well) That connection would provide very similar issues to what you have now. No powering up the radio, but the temp ***** all work. If this is solidly connected, then I would venture a guess that firmware is the issue here. I was told when I got the ipod connection which plugs into the spot for sirius, that it doesnt always work properly.

the faceplate suggestion is a good one, i'll definitely look into it. would that affect the LCD output though? maybe it would, i dunno.
i just dont get the firmware thing, unless the car itself has a firmware flash thats different from the stereo firmware, and i just don't think that makes much sense.
i'm moving right now, but i'll look into the faceplate thing and get back to you, cause that's intriguing.

looked into the faceplate thing this weekend. tried both faceplates on the new one, ad both faceplates on the old one. its definitely the stereo itself that doesn't work.
is there seriously no one out there with an 04 that tried to install a Sirius-compatible CD player before?

I had the same exact problem. I changed out components from my factory in dash 6 cd changer with a portion of a broken satellite capable one in order to get text through the ipod interface and have the cd changer and it would not power up but ac controls worked. I took everything out, cleaned the connections, put everything back together real tight and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes. After connecting the battery, it powered up and worked flawlessly. Got the DSC inoperable message for the first drive after but it corrected itself and went away to never come back.

I have the factory ipod connection on a single disc bose.
