Pics of my portable MP3 player install
Been waiting for the right time to do the PIE install, and this last weekend was it. Thanks to all the DIY threads for tips on installing PIE, as well as HU removal. It took a few hours, but part of that was because I did a little more work on the install, and ended up doing some of it twice.
I wanted something a little cleaner than what I have seen, so instead of running the 1/8" stereo male plug through the ashtray, or under the console to the cup holders, I cut the end off of the 1/8" male, and soldered it to a panel mount 1/8" female, and mounted that in the blank panel where a minidisk or tape deck would be installed.
I used a Proclip to mount my Creative Zen xtra, and a 6"- 8" male to male to plug right into the panel mount female on my console.
I think it looks very clean without wires going in or out of my ashtray or cup holders.
In this light, the pics are not great and it looks like there are some scratches, but it's just a bit dusty. No scratches, just needs a good dusting off.
