Unfortunately it looks like the Bose speakers might have to go. Paper cones and probably foam surrounds? Why is this crap still used? Why bother with a digital amplifier and audio pilot, then use these speakers? 9" in the door is interesting though.

The Bose system in the latest Miata uses an 8" speaker and a tweeter in the doors, similar to the front door setup in the RX8. The Miata system is unimpressive. It's capable for a good portion of people who just want something in the car mind you, which makes it the right choice for Mazda, but it's not all that good.
Using the same pieces/parts in the RX8 doesn't make me optomistic about the RX8 version.

First off, design-wise the Bose system sounds awesome to me.
The only thing clear from the pictures to me is that the rear 6X9 speakers are paper cones which isn't the end of the world from a sound quality perspective. Rear speakers typically play at much lower amplitude than the front speakers. The front speakers are what keeps the sound stage in front of the driver. Paper cones are typically more effecient (and cheaper) and that is probably why they were used in the back.
That is about all I can get from the small picture. It is impossible for me to tell what the cone material of the other drivers are or the surround material. I would prefer rubber surrounds and polymer cones, but if they are paper and foam that is more likely to impact longevity and not necessarily sound quality.
Two things that are definitely impressive are the slim 9" door woofers and the use of a 3.15" center channel speaker to help create a nice centerstage (particularly for vocals).
I also think the use of 2" tweeters in the upper portion of the doors is ideal because it allows them to use a lower cut-off frequency for the tweeters (2KHz or so)
To me my biggest concern with Bose systems in general is their use of the bare minimal in amplifier power. I think the RX-8 will be fine but I'm guessing that the total system power is less than 200 Watts. It would be nice if it was (and it still might be) somewhere in the 300+ Watt area.
I will be installing a 10" sub with its own 200 watt or so amp and removing some of low frequency workload away from the front 9" woofers allowing them to play cleaner and louder. I think that will be enough for me.
Overall, I am really looking forward to hearing the Bose system in person. With some slight modifications (sub addition), I think I will be able to get it to my liking.

Some scans from an earlier posting on the Bose system in English. It's hard to tell what the system will sound like, but I am leaning towards the penchant that the bass output will not be tight and punchy. I've test driven the Mazda6 and the Nissan Maxima and was not impressed with the quality of the bass.
MrWiggles, keep us posted on your sub installation.

Pooman,
I don't know what the Wattage is. I will try and test it when I get a chance.
Typically Bose doesn't advertise Wattage because they are usually less than their competition.
