why would someone buy this??? behind the gauge pillar is the freaking AIR BAG!!

Uh, Nemesis8, did you want to check that? During the install of my Compustar alarm, the installers ran cables behind the grey plastic of the pillar. When they pulled back on it, there was an airbag unit within.
When you say headliner, are you including that plastic cover that runs parallel to the pillar?

Here is the location of the side curtain airbags. Item number 4. You can use the lower portion of the pillar, just like the Mazda North American Operatons boosted car at Sevenstock did.

While there might be two more bags in the rear headliner, they both activate as one big curtain. So, yes you are right if we count each bag deployed. I was counting each control module.
