I am going to talk to my installer either today or tomorrow about EXACLTY what parts of the PCB you can cut and which you need to keep. In regards to the clock and weather settings, I'll know this Saturday when he finishes the install.

Note - We're not done yet because I needed my car this week and he's finishing it tomorrow.

Can you verify which parts of the PCB you need to keep, and how you're going to set the clock?

That's fine, I appreciate any help you/he can offer. I haven't found a place in MN that has a lot of experience with RX8's, so if I can tap into expertise from elsewhere I'm more than willing to. Hiding the stock head unit PCB where the Nav unit goes is brilliant, and I would love to have that fixed on my vehicle.

Anything? My car is getting ready to go in, so any info especially on the PCB would be wonderful.

I'm gonna post a nice little video for you all tonight of the finished product as well as how I set my clock and set the ambient outside temperature to on/off and farenheight/celsius.

I made two files, one good quality for broadband and another for dial-up users (you poor things). Now... if only I can find someone to host the files...

Nothing less than amazing. Congrats on a stellar setup. Wish there was someone around here who could manage the job. Again, if possible see if they reccommend anyone down here in NC to do a job as close as nice? Oh and thanks for the great video!

looks great and very clean install. personally, i don't like dashes where the nav screens are so low on the center console, because voice assist or not, u do occassionally have to look at the screen. great job nonetheless...

Yeah, neither do I... but short of purchasing a brand new car, this was the best I could do.

OMFG! Damn it I hate you !

How long does it take to complete the install ? I think Im going to do the same thing ... As soon as you let me know the answer.

you said 1600 for install, any chance for lower ? :D even a hundred bucks is good.

Why would u need those 3 little buttons down there ? Its loud where Im at and the laptop's speaker not loud enough.

Who should I ask for if I go there ? I live in Queens so ....

Mine has bose installed, and I dont want to replace them yet ..... is it going to work the same ?

Do they take Credit card ?

The install took about a week.

I don't set the prices, AutoMat did. You'd need to negotiate with them.

Those three buttons set the factory LCD time and temp.

Ask for Darren or Tim.

It WILL work the same.

They take cash/credit.

Thanks for the updates, that's an interesting way to handle the temp/time issue.

Did you ever get a final pic of what area of the PCB they needed to keep, and what stuff they could toss?

IS this the address ?

69 Hazel St., Hicksville, NY 11801

Just wanted to be sure I got the right place.

Another question, The Pioneer Z1 by default would not let you to use other functions While the car is in motion .... Did you do any bypass to your unit ? I found 2 method, one is to flash your light 3 times (???) when Pioneer is loading ? The other one requires you to tap some wires ...

*Edited* Forgot to ask, is there any detactable faceplate or something for the Z1? because its not funny to see someone smash the windows and your Nav is gone.

Let me know.

Sorry. Been busy. You only have to flash your parking lights once and it bypasses every lockout and works perfectly. It doesn't have any kind of security in the radio but that's why I have an alarm and $4000 supplimental insurance through my insurance company.

I know, I promised to find out about the LCD but I've been really busy with work and actually have been out of town and stuff... I'll find out, I promise.

I'm sure you can build some kind of pull down faceplate or something. Yeah, the no security thing sucks.... but I have it all insured and I just really wanted/need it so I went with it. NY isn't that bad as long as yer smart and don't leave yer car is bad places.

wow that is a nice install, love hwo everything works steerwheel and LCD and AC all work if onyl some can factory produce the products to do this in a larger scale.

Question: Does the car speed / tach on the stereo work with the car? and is there a reason you went with the Pioneer compared to the Alpine or Eclipse HU?

Way to go!!

Yes, it does work. I went with the Pioneer because I like the options it has and the Alpine and Eclipse are more money for about the same thing.
