is it possible to have 2 functioning stereos in the car?
i really dont want to change my stock stereo out. and i also have the 6 disc changer as well but ive been looking at this thread and its been making me think alot lol.
2 headed stereo

is it possible to have 2 stereos connected at the same time? his stock stereo is working but its not connected to the speakers. is there a way to maybe splice some wires into both stereos to make them both work?
and maybe a possible switch that would toggle which stereo is safe to turn on(so that both arent on of course =/) ?
maybe someone with car electronics knowledge can help.
(i dont have navigation btw)

Why?
I'd wager the reason most people put in a new head unit, is because they're not happy with the sound. If you enjoy the sound of your stock stereo and value the CD changer, why bother? But, if you're not happy with your current sound, add what you want in your new stereo, like a CD changer or iPod.
I don't think you can splice wires to make one set of speakers work with two head units. If that's all you're changing, maybe a switch, but if you're changing the amp, too, it would probably be too complicated.

I am going to use the stock unit with the Auxmod board when it becomes available (on the waiting list) hooked up to a carpc. I did not have nav so got the nav LCD off of Ebay and will use that for the pc. That way I will play tunes from the pc through the head unit. I plan on eventually running the output of the head unit through something like the units available to re-process the sound and put in a multi channel amp to run new speakers. I don't think the stock head unit is bad, but with the additional equipment could be staged better with better sound.
