I can't wait to see what they end up doing and what their final pricing is. I personally don't see how a low cost full replacement of the stock location is possible. It would be great if they could pull it off, not great for us of course, but cool none the less.

We've been discussing a couple options to get our project moving faster. Hopefully I'll be able to share some more info a couple of weeks.

I assume this top of the dash version you are working on will be compatible with the Bose system?

I'm interested. I would put a $100 deposit down and I don't even own an 8 yet.

I appreciate the support but unfortunately this project has ended. I started to get a bad feeling about the whole situation and no longer trust the member I was working with. I could be paranoid but I've seen to many scams and didn't want to inadvertently involve myself.

Just a suggestion: If you're going to come up with a ready solution to this, control your production cost by selling the double-DIN kit only. A lot of manufacturers do it this way because double-to-single DIN adapters are available anywhere, and this way you wouldn't exclude anyone with a double DIN head unit. I'd be interested, but to be honest by the time you get these to market I'll have installed my single DIN already.

I think this project is a no go, cancelled, done with, over. I didn't know boxcar was working on something like this, probably why he wouldn't give me some pointers on the fabrication of his dash piece.

For those who did not see the earlier post unfortunately the project ended a while back.

I told you I would be more then happy to help you out. I was just swamped with work at the time. PM me anytime. I'm no pro though. All I can really tell you is what I did and what I found out when researching the project.

-Shawn

edit - Looking back at your PM and my response that was the week my water heater sprung a leek and flooded a portion of my home. Definately nothing personal when I said I was busy.

Haha, I was just joking man, no hard feelings. I think I've decided to just shell out the cash for the JDM nav housing just to save me a headache. Thanks for the offer for help though. I do remember you saying something about being flooded, did that work out alright?

Thanks overdrive. Make sure to hit up Paul over at Mazmart if you're going that route. Definitely a great guy. Please tell him Shawn from AZ sent you. I've done a lot of business with him. I don't get anything out of it, just want him to now that I appreciate all his help.

Finally got it all fixed after tracking down a different plumber. Long story short I am filing complaints against both my home warranty company and the plumber they sent with Consumer Affairs. If any of you live in AZ and read this avoid RITE-A-WAY plumbers and don't let your wife sign contracts if she's not going to take the time to read them. I love her to death but I'll do the tedious fine print reading from now on
