Question Power connection on back of radio...

I have replaced the large connector that plugs into the back of the radio with the Metra reverse harness J-01. Only one wire missing from the new harness (speed pulse) and I was able to fix this by removing one of the pins from the old harness and inserting it into the new connector. The purpose for replacing the connector was because the radio display, etc. did not work unless I pushed on the top corner of the male connector that plugs into the radio. I figured this was due to loose pin(s) on the male connector. After replacing the connector with the J-01 harness I still have the same problem. None of the pins on the female connector on the back or the radio are bent or anything, and the J-01 connector clicks into the radio nicely. If I apply pressure to the corner of the connector, everything on the radio works. All I can think of is a loose pin connection to the board inside the radio. I am going to disassemble and check the connections, soldering any loose connections. Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Radio is torn apart, and I don't see and broken solder points. Going to resolder a couple of the points with an iron and try again. Does anybody know how much the stock HU cost? I really don't want to replace it, but may not have an option. It is worthless!

I know how much a module would costs (around 200-250 euro) eg: the mp3 player etc... i have no idea how much would costs the entiere HU. Anyway you car isn't on warranty? I don't remember if it's just a Italian case, but here they gave us 5 years warranty, then actually there's no RX-8 (minimum 2003 year in pre-sell) out of it.

Smile Modified....

Well, I think warranty only applies if you don't work on the car yourself..... & with my Drive + Play custom install, they would probably know that I pulled the radio. However, I did get my unit fixed. Disassembled the entire HU. Re-soldered the the points where the pins from the connector on the radio connect to the circuit board. Re-assembled and installed & my HU is fully functional again! Not an easy fix, but it works again. Good as new! And just in time for my Emmission recall appt. on Thursday.
