Pre vs. Post Bose Amp and LOCs
#26
I just got off the phone with a local shop, and he said they have the PAC SNI-15 for sale there....which is NON-adjustable (whereas the SNI-35 is adjustable).....would the SNI-15 be ok for my simple application? I know it was mentioned that adjustable is desirable...but......

I wouldn't bother. Why are you hunting after that particular model? Like I said, you can find a decent one anywhere. Just go to BestBuy or your local big box store, and ask for a 2-channel line output converter. If they look at you funny, ask to speak with an installer. (Not every 19 year old kid is going to know everything about car audio lol)

Good point.... I live in a rather small town (~30k people) and that local install shop is really my only bet for getting things. I could venture to the best buy, but its ~1 hr away Wally World is the only big store that we really have in town lol...so i guess they carry the shitty one that was mentioned earlier...

It's hard to believe the only LOC they carry is non-adjustable..... did you ask for that one in particular? Maybe they have others that ARE adjustable? It's not that the non-adjustable ones are crap, obviously, but you have no clue what you're getting. Once you get your LOC, listen with the adjustments on low and then again cranked up. Huge difference. And you'd have no way of knowing where along that curve you'd sit with a non-adjustable one.
Maybe buy online? Or I'd use the Scosche one at Wally World before I tried the non adjustable one. You can ALWAYS take things back to Wally World. Even if it dies 2 years later. LOL

I'll drop by the store and see what I can do. Might as well get everything from the same store (8ga wire and fuse are the only things I need)

If you must buy locally, buy your wiring kit at WalMart too. I'd hate to see you pay $75 for an 8g kit from somewhere else.
What amp are you using? Plan on adding another for the other speakers anytime in the future?
If you can wait a few days, darvex.com has everything you need cheap.

Hmm....picked up the SNI-35 and some nice 8ga + a fuse from the local car audio place...nice people in there. Right now I have an old rockford fosgate punch amp (bridged 160 RMS) but I'm going to be getting something else soon...not too sure atm. I'll get to the wiring up phase soon....it feels like I just had everything apart to get the train horns installed...lol

OK....now that I've had a few minutes to play with this setup and the PAC SNI-35, I've come to a bit of stopping point. I've looked all over the forums for pictures or a diagram of the different plugs/inputs into the factory Bose amp (remember, I have an '09)....there are 3 different plugs going into the amp. The speaker wires that come from the rear speakers are Purple/Pink and BlueBlack/BlueWhite.... I'm not 100% sure which of these is the positive, and which is the negative, nor really which plug these are connected to, that goes into the amp (I'd like to splice them all right after the plug, coming out of the amp. Only ONE out of the THREE (two black one green) plugs going into the amp has both the Purple/Pink and BlueBlack/BlueWhite sets of wire running to it....I can only assume this would be the correct one......At this point in time I'd be just happy to know which was + and which was - for the wires running to the speakers.....
*EDIT* Yea, definitely NOTHING like the pics in this post.... https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...129#post252129
ALSO....wtf do I do with the two brown wires that are with the SNI-35? They say ground them if <insert some stipulation here>.....not sure if I need to???

Ahhh....I figured it out...nothing that a little time and a AAA battery wouldn't resolve
I'll post a pic of the amp tomorrow, but in terms of the rear speakers, here are the + - designations for the 2009 Bose stereo (remember this is POST-Bose amp):
Left Speaker:
+ Purple
- Pink
Right Speaker:
+ BlueWhite
- BlueBlack
Now, in terms of which plug those all come out of the amp....no idea...someone else's turn :-p
And the long in the short, the sub/amp works with the LOC (a PAC SNI-35) hooked up post amp. Now for a free day and I'll get to work on the custom fiberglass box!
