Problem with CD player/Sirius Stiletto questions

So I love the car, and the audio system is ok. The CD player is skipping on CDs that I know don't skip. It's not when I'm going over bumpy roads either. It just randomly skips... badly.

Is this a problem with the CD player? Can I switch the 1 cd player out with a 6 cd changer? Does that work? Would it help my problem?

Also instead of installing the stock system, I want to put in the sirius stiletto. I had the starmate replay on my old car and loved the recording capabilities. With an FM modulator installed it sounded great. My question, has anyone installed one of these? If so where'd you mount it? I'm gonna get it professionally done but I can't decide where to put it...

don't get a 6cd changer - you will be much happier with the MP3 cd player, it's only one disk but it's alot less hassle -

and for the sirius you will need an AUXmod adapter, or something similar, that plugs into the bottom of your HU where the tape player would be.. it's an easy install.

as for placement of the sirius reciever, i have the S50 and have it on the drivers side of the center console (kinda where your keys hang) and it doesn't get in my way because i don't use the pedals, but it might if you do.. maybe you could do the same place but on the pass. side.

Spend the money on an IPOD and IPOD adapter then add Sirius via Auxmod.
Look for the DIYs and install it all yourself.

I am very interested in this thread. I have just purchased my second RX8 to replace my first one that was stolen (but that's another story). Anyhow, after having this 2nd car (2004 model) for a couple of weeks, I thought that I would load some CDs into the 6 disk stacker - but guess what - there is no CD player installed!!!!!!! You would think that there is one installed because all of the appropriate controls are in the fascia but there is simply no slot to put disks into. Unbelievable. The dealer who sold me the car has turned out to be a total pr**ck and is no help at all.
In my Miata, I have a cable connection into the stereo (via the AUX socket) that allows me to play music from my iPod and also charge it at the same time. But I didn’t think that this option was available with an RX8 because there is no AUX socket. Or am I wrong here?
I still have the option of using an iTrip to play broadcast into the FM radio but I have always found this to be fairly marginal. Other radio stations keep broadcasting on top of my frequency. That's why the cable connection that I use in the Miata is so much better.
What are my options?

Got my Stilleto and modulator installed today. It sounds great. Close enough to CD for me.

It really is a nifty little unit.

The output level isn't the hottest though. Full blast on the stiletto is quite a bit quieter than CD at full blast. Is there any way to fix this? It's not "quiet" by any means, but it's not quite pushing it to where I'd like it to be.

I'm getting an MTX thunderlink installed tomorrow. It's not the biggest, but I'm not going for major boom boom... just want something to round out the stock system.

And here's the sub install. Perfect amount of bass. No ghetto boom boom, just enough to round out the system.

I'm done with audio stuff for a good while. I'd like to get a direct ipod in at some point, but the FM modulator for my sirius quieted out the signal band for my ipod fm transmitter to sound decent.

I'm still curious as to why the fm trasnmitted stuff (sirius/ipod) sounds a lot quieter than the CD at the same volume level. Anyway to fix this?
