Okay so I have read countless threads and can't get a solid answer. My console lid was sliding every time I hit my brakes. I finally broke down and bought a new lid for 46 bucks at the dealer. I finally go to put it on today and it felt a lot tighter. My question is simply this. Is the lid supposed to lock in place when you slide it back? Mine only seems to lock in place when I open the storage compartment behind the cup holders. After I sit it back down and it is slid all the way back it feel like it is tight enough to stay but doesn't lock. Is it supposed to lock while it is down or should I lock into buying the middle cup holder section and tanking 274 dollars on it. Any help would be appreciated. I'm sick of throwing money at this car.

 

i would think its a good thing that it is tight.

IIRC... its plastic sliding on plastic, eventually one or both wear out and why the older one felt like it would slide. If it slides okay and locks into place in the closed position i dont see a problem, i only see positives.
