Problem with Rotary Rasp's LED Footwell kit

Since the original thread is closed and Rotary Rasp has his Private Messages disabled, I need help (and kinda quick, because I'm about to move to Florida and won't have time to deal with this):

I installed his kit exactly the way he stated for the dome light wiring. I got nothing. I made sure the red wires tapped with the blue wire with red stripe and the black wires went to the DARK green with black stripe. I've turned on the dome light, turned it off, open and closed the doors, nothing. I have an 04 RX, so I don't know if somehow that makes a difference. I even noticed there are TWO harnesses in that area with the same color wires. I even tried both harnesses but nothing. Can someone please help ??

If anyone can take a look at this who has installed the kit before and help me. Remember, I'm trying to make it come on with the dome light. I looked at the electrical diagram for the car, and the wire colors seem right. The arrows so the two harnesses and places I've attempted (since both harnesses have the same color wires).

Did you cut any wires? The "other tap" looks like their are some wires cut there (Or is that the wires coming from the leds?). If you did, then they are install incorrectly. If this is the case reconnect all wires that are cut, and follow the instructions one more time. The taps he gave us are awesome, no cutting required just put them on the right wires, closed them and your all tapped up.

If this is not the case, then go back to square one. Uninstall everything, and I will double check where my taps are when I get a chance. My lights, however, only come on when my doors open and close or when I unlock the doors. So if your die hard about going for switching on the dome and the leds coming on then im not much help, but if you just want to go the same route as me I can definately get you on the right wires. On a side note I dont think I have ever turned on the dome light in the year plus that I have owned my 8.

K, figured it out. There was a bad tap on the positive side (the red/blue wire didn't seat properly). I got in there with my continuity tester and found the problem. They work now.

To answer your question, there are clipped wires where I tried the "other" tap and it obviously didnt work so I had to clip the LED wires in order to tap into the current spot.

But for anyone who gets this kit (or splices into these wires), there are TWO harnesses that have those colored wires. Apparently, you need to use the one that is CLOSEST to the dead pedal.

Yeah, he's supposed to email you the link. Contact him, or you can PM me, but I can't post it publically.

can someone send me the addy also?
Ya, I got the addy on a paper somewhere but have misplaced it.

I already installed the front ones as per instructions but not connected, ie spliced the wires. ( monitor colors are gone so pic did not look right)

Have not installed the rear ones yet.then again there are no instructions on where to install them. I will find a place somewhere below the front seats....to the rear I guess..but hope no one in the rear sticks their big feet there and break them.
The connections has to be the same as the front ones.

got them in September last year..ya am slow

thanks in advance...,tia

Received the lights this morning and had a go at installing them..but after installing they were on permanently and not going off with the interior lights.. i installed it following the "dome light" instructions.

I think the problem might be because my car is right hand drive so the wires above the dead pedal are different? I can see a blue red wire above the accelerator pedal area but no dark green and black one..

Please advise! Anyone?

Best way to find the right bundle is trace it back to your door. The right one goes from the door into the cabin.

Year-old bump, I know, but I really didn't want to make another thread for this:

I recently purchased these footwells off of another user, but he didn't have the instructions. I tried PMing Rotary Rasp but got no response. Could somebody please hook me up with the instructions for these?

Come on, I know one of you can hook me up with the directions. If I recall correctly, Rotary Rasp gives you a website link that takes you to a page with the directions. It must be hidden for a reason, as I cannot find the link anywhere on the forum and I can't find it through any search engines.

This is my first time ever working with wires and I'll probably be lost even with the directions, but they'd be a huge help and I don't feel comfortable trying to install these LEDs without them. They're just sitting here on my desk.

Well yeah, I've read through that thread but even after reading it I don't feel confident enough to go try it myself. It all seems really complicated and I was hoping that RR's instructions would be more descriptive and would make the job easier.

If that's not the case though I'll try roughing it tomorrow and I'll give it a shot with those directions. A friend of mine has LEDs installed in his Eclipse, maybe he can help.

I will look on my computer at work and see if I have the link to his directions.
I'm not sure I still have the link anymore, and I tried to find it on this system and was a no go.
Check back in the AM and I'll look when I get to work.
It's reall not hard, just make damn sure you got the right wires.
Example.........Dark Green/Black.........this means it's a dark green wire with a black stripe. The first is always the main color, and the second is always the stripe!
